Hi I wonder if anyone else has had this problem. My ISP is Telkom. I can receive emails no problem but when I try to send an email I get an error "An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 5.1.8 <[email protected]>:Sender address rejected: Domain not found. Please check the message recipients and try again".

Telkom were most willing to help but are (at this point) unable to resolve the problem.

Any suggestions?

dsl2.gbsh.telkomsa.net

Looks funny put in another email addy because that looks all kinds of wrong :).

Thanks for your replies so far guys - the "xxxxxx" in the domain was to hide my user name. The domain name is correct - Telkom have confirmed that. I normally use Thunderbird but in desperation I installed Outlook but received the same error.

Could be the smtp server you using? What is it? The fact that you are able to receive emails means that there is no problem with Telkom. Sending issues are usually totally seperate from the actual email address you using.

Hope that makes sense?

Telkom will filter the sent email based on what your from address is. They also do it based on originating IP.

I know this as I use a telkom ADSL account and have an ISDIAL email account and need to send through a different server to the smtp.saix.net or smtp.telkomsa.net

Thanks Juggy, I will have another look tonight when I get home and if it is that, I will kick myself hard!!! It is possible I messed it up when installing Windows 7.

Telkom again 'phoned me this morning and suggested possibly the same thing. They will 'phone me again tonight at home (a senior technician). I must say that I have been impressed with their assistance.

you should use smtp.saix.net to send mail. Seeing as the whole country uses saix (except some ISPs) you shouldn't have problems. (Can someone correct me on this if possible?)

I have kicked myself HARD!!! I was using my "onlinexxxx" signon instead of my chosen email name as Juggy had suggested. Thanks for your help guys and sorry to have wasted your time with my idiotic mistake.
