Windows 7 users are taking their time upgrading to Windows 10

I suspect there will be very little benefit to using win7 by next year. It's already not supported by the most modern motherboards and it's gotten so slooow compared to how it was. Also it too has telemetry now. The only benefits it has over win10 atm that I can see is less bandwidth waste and sane settings/control panel, they even made the start menu useful in the latest feature update as well as starting to distance themselves from cortana even though it took them a friggin decade to get the obvious message.

Nope, why would I be? All my regular apps work fine, Manjaro even has microsoft office online baked in.

TBH I have never compared that.... as long as it does not hurt my eyes I'm happy.

Only switched my home PC from Windows 7 to 10 this year.

Most everything I need to do on my personal computer I can do out of the box without addition apps I need to install.

I do in fact agree with the cloud based office sentiment, there is Libre Office which I use, I just mentioned it because some people (like my wife ) refuse to switch because no MS Office.

Certainly possible, as the distinction between tablets and desktops become less.

I don't see it happening anytime soon.
I primarily use my PC for gaming. If they can get proper support for all games (steam, etc) then I could see myself considering another OS.
At the moment I can't complain about Windows 10.

I thought that too untill I used it for a few years.... eventually all the little deficiencies and irritations reached the point of rage format. It just became too much PT to do things that were a breeze in windows.... and then there were the horrid nvidia drivers to contend with.

Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects won't update old versions or install new versions if you are using Windows 7. At this stage, Photoshop and InDesign still work on 7 but who knows for how much longer.

This. A lot of developers will just stop supporting Windows 7 at some point.

Been running win 10 on multiple devices since beta and had no issues besides some that were update related

Still using 7 and haven't had any issues with games so far. Not switching to win10, 11 etc unless I absolutely have to. I was the same with XP which I used until 2010/11 when I switched to 7.

I still have XP installed on my dual boot pc for older games that won't run on Win 7 or a 64bit system.

Aha! I knew there was a reason I chose 10. Upon ordering my PC, the seller asked: "7 or 10"? Although he personally also preferred 7, he recommended 10 due to this.

This brings me back to my Android argument - how long are users (not offices etc) going to try and ride the wave of 7's remaining lifespan until it's too late to go to 10 (too expensive / hardware compatibility), leaving Droid the only option left?
What am I missing here?
