One can be downgraded to XP, the other cannot.

Also, the Home Premium cannot be joined to a domain, whereas the Ultimate can be joined...

There's also lots of other differences...

Another thing Noob101, in many forums double-posting (two posts directly after each other in the same thread) is not appreciated. I'm not sure about MBB, having only recently joined it, though.

As for problems with your username: a Noob is often seen as someone who's not only new and inexperienced, but who also refuces to learn. It isn't strictly the same as a newbie, whos silly mistakes can be forgiven due to being new. Calling yourself a Noob tells people "Hey, here I am, I know nothing and I don't really want to know!".

If you have to pirate it, then there is a good chance that its a crime.
I'm sure there are exceptions though.

Just try and get an Anytime Upgrade key for Win7 Home Basic to Win 7 Pro. a) you have to format and re-install as there is no "official" path to go from home to pro without buying Home Premium first. and b) it's way more expensive than just buying a 7 Pro standalone (not OEM, cos that's also illegal) because of the upgrade path in 2 steps. Oh, and c) the EMEA specific version of Home Basic has an Anytime upgrade icon which just gives a message similar to "this option is not available in this region". Why include it in the EMEA pack if it is not valid in the EMEA region FFS!.

Sometimes I think they are trying to get people to pirate even when they don't want to.

Yep, I've had to download a crack to make my legal software work before. :)

Nope using a pirated version of windows 7 is not a crime, it is a civil matter which microsoft need to handle. Selling windows 7 is a criminal matter that the police handle. Don't confuse the 2. Very different in terms of what is criminal and what is not.

It will be the last I run a pirated copy, I found myself in the police station with a couple of Microsof execs. Quite a hefty fine one has to pay if you do get caught going against their license agreements.

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? What????????????????????????????????????????????????????

LMAO - Calssic!
