Windows 8 Consumer Preview

I said this in the other forum:

I'm running this on my Samsung Series 7 Slate and its awesome.
I have been using the dev preview since it came out, and there are tons of little changes and big ones. Overall, I am completely sold and will definitely be using this as my main OS on both my PC and slate.

I really dont care. Its not an important partition for me. Its windows. My game installs are all on a separate drive anyway. I often play them from my Linux install as well so keep the game folders on their own drive. Worst case scenario is I have to reinstall windows. I lose nothing.

Yea but i dunno dude, 5 minute acronis back up of windows vs what perhaps an hour or two installing it again. No thank you.

Only thing Im willing to waste money on acronis for is my servers. Couldnt be bothered to purchase it for windows desktop. I only play in it.

On a side note. I have Unity running on a MSI wind on my desk. Its got a touch screen. Ill try see if it can also handle Windows 8. See how it compares to Unity.

What sha1 sums are you guys getting? Downloaded it from two different connections (Neotel fibre and IS DC), and getting 9abc4afcce6a970ca70e966fcd60f6f529b8426e for the 64bit iso. The official sum is 1288519C5035BCAC83CBFA23A33038CCF5522749

does win8 create a boot partition like win7 did?

i am intrigued to see what it looks like and just wondering in case os-prober doesn't pick it up and automatically adds it to grub.

also i have a seperate partition where i install programs.

is there a way i can get win8 to pick those programs up?

So I've been running it for a couple of hours now at work. Seems to be running pretty well.

Ok guys, I downloaded the ISO. On installation will it create a multi boot setup?

I upgraded and got a blue screen of nothing. Waited an hour and then rebooted back into linux.
