I WANT A SLATE WITH WINDOWS 8 !
Well I have been using Windows 8 Consumer on both my home machine and work laptop for almost two weeks now. I just rebooted into Windows 7 and for the life of me I felt lost:wtf: and couldn't stand not having Metro and the speed of Windows 8. So I went back into Windows 8 within 5 minutes:erm:
I think I actually like Windows 8![]()
What were you running? Just curious![]()
Before I started using Windows 8?
I used mainly Windows 7 Ultimate and Pro. At times Mac OS X Lion and Cent OS 6.
For some reason I am becoming quite fond of Windows 8 and I hated the developer preview
^^
Um, maybe if he had a WINDOWS keyboard he could have press the WINDOWS key to bring up the little square windows his son was so pleased he could not find... drive him to a Mac ??
Please :erm:
I got the exact same from a other people. Face it its not as simple or cut and dry as other OS's purely because the entire OS expect you to know things, ie: there is no visual clues whatsoever how to do things.
My 9 year old nephew flipped the mouse around for a short while, then pressed the windows key.
The Windows key (the little Windows logo one) has been around since Windows 95, and its function has been the same. It seems to be logical to me... hit the Windows key. My nephew did it too, instinctively, without coaching from me.
It seems as if the video poster took a little too much satisfaction from the "See, I'm trying to prove a point, what is Microsoft thinking with this that is going to be the final release of 8" gloating... imagine, Apple releasing a computer without a keyboard ! What is Apple thinking... are they trying to drive me to Windows with this iPad ?
Also, just hit the F1 key, type in Windows 8 Start Menu... and voila...
This whole "missing" start menu thing is getting tiresome... it is not missing... it is still there... in a new design.
Progress sometimes comes with a learning curve.
Good for your son, and to be honest I don't give a **** on who and why can or can not do it. I am just commenting that its exactly the same reaction I have seen from others. Some people love things other don't, if you don't, go buy a Mac, stay on Windows 7 or install Linux for free if you can not find a way to fix your problems.
You can not satisfy 100% of the people all the time, if that was the case no one would ever have bought a Mac....
But like you say the whole start button issue is being focused on a tad too much, there is other things that is more deserving of attention like my PC's random reboots or why Metro has almost like a matte finish. Why is my PC forced to reboot twice when I switch it on from hibernate and so on.

All it does is bring up the fugly teletubbies-coloured rectangles. Not a start menu. Besides - the keyboard: wonderful thing! Who needs a gui? Let's go back to DOS or a Unix shell.
