Windows 8 demand outstrips Windows 7

What if he is only doing this, because everyone (reporters) are saying if he keeps quiet we know.

Does it matter?

Yes. Because some people are buying a key as insurance in case they might want to run this crap at a later stage, or be forced to by software version upgrades. Besides, we have only Ballmer's word for it at this stage.

If they weren't keen on it, they wouldn't buy it. Linux is free and I don't use it (much). People have been complaining about the high cost of windows for years... now that they reduce the cost, people complain more? The price is less... awesome. Does it spike sales, most likely yes. Is that a bad thing? Does it make it any less of a great system? No! The fact that the numbers are good so far is great for convincing others to take the leap.... helping the whole ecosystem become a success.

Besides, we have only Ballmer's word for it at this stage.

He'd have a reason to lie?

The real reason is 'cos people were wary of Win7 at first after the Vista fiasco, plus the great introductory pricing of Win8.

I know that our sales guys are putting it on all new pc`s going out already. Its completely replaced Win 7 here.
