Windows 8 Developer Preview

Hi everyone, just a quick question...

Did anyone perhaps get the Vodacom vodafone 3G sticks installed on Win 8?

When sticking in the device, I can not get it loaded at all. It just keeps rolling back at the end of the install. I tried making use of the compatibility tool, but no luck.

Older sticks need an earlier version of .net. Win 8 has version 4.0 and the old sticks won't accept it.

Any ideas or help?

Same problem here...I got the software to install using compatibility mode and "run as administrator". However, once the software is installed, the actual modem drivers refuse to install.

Yep I did so as well. Also tried the latest firmware, drivers, etc. Nothing seems to work on Win8.

Unfortunately I have to say good bye to the OS for now.
 
I tried burning 2 dvd's using the windows default "Burn to Disk" option in Win 8 and both attempts failed. Anyone else having this issue?
 
I am just loving this OS. Much more faster than my current Vista Buisness :cry: (Came with the laptop). I figure Win8 will probably be expensive so I might as well just get a new laptop with it installed. Curent laptop is 3 years old this month and it is showing.

It feels fast initially--that is because the Windows registry is not bloated yet; install some programs and see after that. But I agree it is snappier compared to Win7 and surely better than Vista. I would keep your old machine and use Win 8.
 
I have quite a few applications installed, with Office (esp Outlook), Firefox, Pidgin and Skype running all the time, and VLC running most of the time. It still feels quite snappy. This is on my Joybook Lite U102, which is one of the worst specced netbooks out there.

Does anyone know if they brought out new dev releases after the initial one?

Did you also disable the Metroweb UI?
 
So my Windows 8 crashed for the first time yesterday. I got feeling it was something to do with Chrome though. Also I have to re-install the Vodacom connect whenever I want to use the 3G modem but it happens so quickly that it does not bother me. And I have ADSL at home so I hardly use the 3G modem. Very impressed so far.
 
A senior MSFT manager today said a feature-complete public beta will be available in late Feb 2012, a month later than originally expected. It'll include Windows Store.
 
I've been running Windows 8 DP now for a month and it was just sweet from day 1 :) .My PC boot up in 5 - 10 Seconds, so I cant complain! I'm used to Windows 7 so 8 was just natural :whistle:
