This confirms that you've never been inside one. It's not to accommodate the product range, but the punters inside. Apple stores attract a ridiculous amount of traffic.

In the past few weeks I was in the Robina Apple Store in Australia. Although it's not a double storied I was amazed by the amount of shoppers, and that was on a Tuesday morning. It resembled a local store having a give - away sale. To buy an iPad I had my name put on a list to see an attendant. But when my turn arrived to be attended to the service was amazing. But man this place was alive with shoppers just too keen to part with their dollars.
Service at the Genius Bar must be booked a day ahead as well as the courses run on various aspects of Apple software and hardware.
Virtually every one I saw in Aussie was using an iPhone. I can't imagine why Apple can't establish a direct presence in SA. ( I must add that the iPad prices in SA are not far off the prices in Australia - certainly not worth the effort of importing. )
