Windows Home Server just got released to System Builders/OEM
Had an old PC lying around, so I cleaned it up and installed WHS.
Based on Server 2003 SP2. Suprisingly, I was pleasantly pleased
Works out of the box, a bit too simple GUI but serves the purpose.
What I'm really excited about is the Automated Backup:
80GB HDD> 45GB Backup using Single Instance technology
Remote Access/Desktop works like a breeze (On all PC's including the server)
This is done through a homeserver subdomain provided by microsoft (free).
It also features a raid like technology, where it duplicates the files on another physical hardrive.
Has many other features
Will update post as I go through the system.
Server Spec:
Gigabyte 81955 Royal Motherboard
Dual Gigabit Lan & 54MB Wireless
1GB DDR2 Memory
P4 3.4HT
1 x External Terabyte Unit
2 x 200GB Sata
1 x 160GB Sata
20 speed LG DVD Writer
Memory Card Reader
