If you were offered, for free, the latest Apple MacBook Pro 15 (with high specs) or a new, high-end Windows laptop, which one would you take, and why?

Windows. All my purchased software is Windows version.

High-end e.g. the latest alienware etc.?
Windows laptop, I game.

MacBook Pro - would flog it post-haste and stick the money into something useful like an ETF or similar.

MacBook since I'm already in the Apple ecosystem and I anyway plan to buy a MacBook Pro soon though not the 2016 model. If I get the 2016 model for free, then I'll happily spend my own money on buying a few adaptors with my own money to sort the ports issue.

PC. I'm heavily invested in the Ubuntu world, but Windows is my favourite OS outside Linux. Gaming and software on offer meets my needs.

MBP by a country mile... Everything I have is Apple, has been for the best part of a decade, and I intend keeping it that way, even without this hypothetical situation.

So the R50k macbook with the touch bar? I'd take the macbook and run

The apple ecosystem just works. Colour reproduction on a Mac is the best hence why it's used predominantly in the media industry

Only gripe is the USB c ports.

Macbook Pro, had a Asus G series gaming laptop then switched over to the Macbook Air - all my purchaced steam games run on the Air but not well enough. Think the Pro will do much better. I like macOS more than windows, and all my other things are Apple in any case.

Windows.
If I could get a Mac for the same price, with the same spec as a windows laptop, I would buy that. Then install Windows on it.

Apple has great hardware, but the OS is ****.

I'll take a Surface book. Panos Panay is doing amazing over at MS and they already had two "one more thing" moments at the last two MS events. IMO he is better then Jony Ive. Also love that Windows can be used with touch.

MS getting rave reviews:

Can't wait for the Panos Panay Surface phone coming later this year. Going to be a great year.
