I'm still surprised they're coining it "Windows Server 2012"...
I know they've been meaning to get away with associating their product titles with dates for long now, because they just can't seem to get it right... hence "Windows Vista" *spit*, "Windows 7", "Windows 8" (provisionally), etc....

Ougt to be good though. They did something right with 2008 R2.

Awesome, I'm now in my last year of studying Networking and we work with Server 2008 R2, so I just hope that there isn't much change with server 2012 just better performance, we use Hyper-V and that thing is buggy as hell, hope it is much better in the new Server Release.

Virtualization, albeit a relatively immature technology so far as the MS platform is concerned, on a 2008 box is actually not that bad. It is leaps and bounds better than MS Virtual Server, and if you don't need all the bells and whistles of VMWare, it is a much more cost-effective solution. Managed with SCVMM it gets the job done.

The biggest + for me with the new version of server is the granularity of which you are able to toggle the UI, ultimately moving to a full "core" type of interface for management, making it more secure and less resource intensive.

Unless the mess it up in the final stages, I think they will have a really good product, even if they are a year late again.

Just downloaded and don't know if I like the interface. Give me back my desktop and start menu dammit.... Same applies for Windows 8 RC. Rumors are that they will bring the start menu and desktop back (or give the option) otherwise this is going to be another Vista. I can see the resistance building already.....
