Hey guys,

ok im no IT proffesional or anything- But still, someone asked me about how to do this.

There company server has been setup by "IT Proffesionals" to do backups at a certain time, everyday to an external hdd thats connected to the server.

The guy wants it so that th server will backup all the data to he's home pc at home using the internet connection.

Iv'e never used windows server, so im new to this, but it should be possible???

I know one of the problems of backing up to he's home pc using a internet connection is the dynamic ip, but i thought about something like dyndns to solve this problem.

This is urgent as they moved offices, any help would be appreciated.

thanks guys.

Why not backup to a web-based backup system like Carbonite or i-Drive? It depends on the data amounts of course.

Putting it on someone's PC is 1. VERY insecure, 2. puts all the data in the responsbility of one person, and 3. relying on the line speed going to a home PC, and if the DSL line drops due to DHCP changeover it will mean resuming - which wont work until the DynDNS updates again.
