Windows Vista Beta 2

It's still a beta, so in other words, still not completed and there might still be bugs, AFAIK, beta 2 is pretty much feature complete, but like I said, there are probably still lots of bugs, and you won't get any support from microsoft if anything goes wrong.

Something must have gone wrong, the ISO is about 3.2GB
Nothing is actually stopping them from changing it completely and some features can be removed, added or changed completely, depending on what feedbacks, problems, bugs are reported.
A "Release Candidate" release is actually closer to the real thing.

The major problem with Beta2 and RC to be released later this year is that you can't upgrade to the released version of Vista - you will have to do a clean install so be careful if you have a PC with everything on it that just works beautifully under XP SP2 - you will have to re-install if you upgrade to Vista Beta and the RC.
I also ordered the DVD which includes the RC later this year - have not received anything though.

Started my download today(torrent). 735mb in 9 hours. Not bad at all. Gonna keep going

2 gig cap from Telscum (i passed it long time ago). Gonna keep going this month to see how far i can take them before they cut me :)

For those people using Vista; what CD writing software are you using? My nero complains that there is a known compatibility issue - can I still use it?

Hey Mic_y,

On about the third screen it should ask for the harddrive to install to. There is a details button or something like that on the right - below the selection box. Click that and it will reveal another bunch of buttons. This group will contian the "Load a driver button"

Laterz !

uuum nothing... u can donate me a blank dvd if u want ;) well i am going away tomorrow, and will be back on sunday. if you want, give me a shout...

on another topic. i am having problems installing vista :( seems to really not like my MB and the fact that i am trying to install it on a raid 0 array. any clues on how to get this right? i know the whole F6 thing in XP setup, and been thru that many times, but i just cant get the hang of it in Vista Setup. It doesnt seem to get to the part where it asks me for drivers, just tells me that it cant detect any, and tells me to try again :(

BTW MB is a Gigabyte Nforce4 ultra

i cannot download it keeps telling me its 400 meg

im willing to give someone 100 bucks if they could burn a cd and send over night express :) to me

That will be the Release Candidate version that will be released towards the end of the year - the RC is a preview of the finished product and there should not be any major changes between that version and the final release set for January 2007. I see the Beta and RC will run to June 2007 - enough time to decide if you want to buy the final version.

Just remember - you can install the Beta or the RC by upgrading your existing Win version but when installing the released version after you have bought it, you will have to do a clean install - no upgrade option from the Beta or the Release Candidate to the released version :( .

Soul Assassin and adsl3g...Many thanks for the detailed explination of RCI...A little worry about Reinstalling final version...Especially that you cannot upgrade from Beta/RC to
Final(Bought O/system)...There must be a method of transferring old data to new system...OR am I dreaming?
