Windows Vista - Wheres the Buzz ?

It doesn't suck, it sucks for people that don't have it :p

I'm sticking with Windows XP 64-bit on the new PC I'm getting this month - I'm concerned about hardware and driver compatibility on Windows Vista. I'll wait another 6 months or so and then upgrade to Vista.

Don`t get XP 64bit you will regret it!

Most software in general actually. And unless your running 64bit applications you wont reap the benefit of the 64bit bits either.

I have recently come into the possesion of the Vista DVD Final Corporate
release that allows you to install any version of Vista including Vista
ultimate. My intial impression of it was similar to when I first encountered
XP Pro, it has it's fair share of bugs and improvements much like it was when
Xp was released but I think most of us have felt this way towards this OS
and I think that over time it will grow from strength to strength like XP
has and will become a household name.

XP had the same issue whith drivers and existing software not being dev'd
for that particular platform. The drivers are slowly becoming available.
I only just recently acquired the drivers for my X1950 XTX 512MB GFX card.

I personally believe that MS has learnt it's lesson with over hyping it products
in fear of reprisals from failure and loomy refunds. I am not sure if you guys
can remember the failed demonsstration of Vista's intial build that was posted
on the internet on YouTube, inwhere almost nothing worked except for the
explorer interface, that I believe was the catalyst to MS slamming on the
brakes in it's marketing stratergy with it';s Vista OS platforms.

MS like most companies are always wanting to be the leaders in it's field by
delivering cutting edge tech. to the end user market regardless of how
many bugs the software might have to preserve the company's rep,
this always proves to do more harm than good. I wonder how many
Alpha builds there were before the first Beta version was available
via MSDN download? Hmmmmm.......

Make no mistake that Vista Ultimate is like XP on steroids that even has
it own version of Media Player and every other additional feature which
is very appealing, I think that MS is just waiting for the right time to begin
actively marketing Vista, right now word of mouth is doing enough for it.

MS just wanted to be a postion when it can put it's money where it's mouth is

LOL

True. The truth behind XP and now Vista is that no other single entity writes an Operating System or any software for that matter thew size of Microsoft's projects and it will be a difficult project.

That they can get it even off the ground is an achievement, not that, that makes it useful to anyone.

Maybe the best way to improve windows is to actually send the error logs to MS. Who knows if everybody did that from the start of XP, maybe Vista would have been an even better OS

I think that maybe you can convert XP into vista

emmm....add some service pack 3 and some window blinds and maybe a gay wallpaper and presto! :D

This has been done with the Vista transformation pack project. It works pretty well, but I used this on XP before moving to Vista and it is not the same thing.

Vista will be available for download. Downloading/copying anything surely has vularabilities, hacking, cracking, etc - this should be easier, shouldnt it?

To download vista cuts right across anything vista has done before with its other os'es. How do microsoft manage the copying of vista from disc to disc, person to person? Because on the face of it, downloading is exaclty that, and allows you to do what you want with it - copy for your friends. Have microsoft enabled some new technonlgy that allows only 1 copy or something? Obviuosly you'll need pass etc, to get the program up and going though.

Boodles, its the license key that is important, not the media. Windows discs have always been like this...
