Winnie Cop Suspended

That you were, I wasn't denying/accusing you of anything :D

Anyhow, too much speculation not enough facts, lets wait for this case to mature a bit.

I agree. I would also like to hear the version of the other police office who was with Odendaal.

However, that being said, it is procedurally wrong to suspend someone without reasons and he can take this on AFAIK.

Possibly not procedurely wrong in the Police, are these real cops (SAP) or just meter maids? Was the black guy also suspended?

It applies to all employees.

When I was in the Police (BSAP) the rules regarding suspension, pending disciplinary action, for cops and civillians were not the same. That WAS between 1978 and 1982 though.

Too bad the cops aren't outfitted with the video cameras as in the states, then we could have seen what really happened. As it is the one lying best will probably win the case. Winnies bodygaurds have had plenty of time to get their (facts) sorted out. Unless if prosecution can find irregularities in their statements nothing will happen....

I know what you are referring to. Even to this day, some labour legislation does not apply to e.g. the secret service, the military, etc. So in that sense you are correct.

However, Odendaal is a Metro Cop, right? In other words, he is employed by the City of Joburg as a local authority, so the legislation should apply to him.

I do stand corrected, but that is afaik.

Seems to me that everyone thinks Winnie is a politition. She is just the former wife of the former President! Why does she get all this protection and transport from the tax-payer anyway? Same goes for Jules Mal - the ANC, not the tax-payer, should be paying for these arseholes to be transported about.
As unfortunate as that is, she IS a politician. An honourable member (of parliament) at that;). Sits on the ANC NEC just to stick to you even deeper.

ANC NEC is not part of parliament, it is a part of the ANC.

I added that just to show you that she is indeed a major player politician. And she's in parliament, well not really but she does pick up a big checque even though she hardly ever attends.

Sorry, as I said, I am out of the country a lot. If Odendaal is a metro cop then he is meerly a meter maid. One rarely sees one of those idiots stopping someone for a moving violation.

What has happened to the other cop? was he suspended too?

It is REALLY frrustrating to see these parasites getting vast sums of money to do sweet FA for the people that idolise them. Wish there was some way to make the toiling masses see through their leaders!
