Wired vs wireless

yip. I agree.

But let's see what neowait has to offer on the cheaper side of things.

“Value for money depends on how much money you are willing to spend. On a limited budget, the best bet is iBurst’s R49/month option. However, if you have poor reception, this may be no better than dial-up. If you have good reception, chances are your usage will quickly exceed the package. Sentech’s R99/month package is also good budget value, if you have decent reception. Both include a modem.”
- Has Mr. Goldstuck used these packages?

Clearly he hasn't - one day's usage is definitely not budget value:rolleyes:.

While I fully agree with the author's view that wired is better than wireless (but probably for different reasons, I base mine on physics), he seems to be making performance-based statements without supplying any supporting evidence.

Maybe he can take a leaf from people (like rpm) who actually test stuff before making any statements and then supports any such statements with factual results.

It would be a sad day for this country's broadband community if wireless is a better option than wired, measured on pure performance.

Two things about wireless put me off:
1) Its more expensive per meg.
2) 3G Reception is patchy here. I'd rather have a rock solid 384 connection than a patchy 7.2mbps connection.

On the other hand, my desktop is not exactly mobile, so I can see why people are willing to pay for the mobility.
