I have a tp-link USB wifi adapter that is really getting on my nerves and I need some ideas of what could possibly be the problem. I will get a new adapter soon but I am very intrigued as to why it only works when it wants to work.
So it would sometimes and completely randomly disconnect (Connected to router without internet) but all my other devices are connected with internet access (so no problem with my wireless router)
I would update the driver, which sometimes works and sometimes not. I would disable the device and then uninstall and reinstall it, which also only sometimes works. I would sometimes plug the adapter into another USB port (which also only works sometimes).
I have made sure that my TCP/IP stack works, pinging 127.0.0.1 and I would get a reply. I have also just for the heck of it reset the stack aswell as network settings which never really helped.
I would make sure that I have a usuable IP address and correct default gateway configured (which it is, I always verify)
When I try to ping my router address I would get a "transmit failed. General error" reply which would indicate that my default gateway is not available, but it is as I have verified. I have used the network adapter troubleshooting wizzard which sometimes says it could not find any problems and sometimes says the the default gateway was missing.
Please help if you have any ideas of what it could be or what else I could do.
