Wireless connection in university residence

Hi I'm in residence at UCT and I wanted a wireless internet connection to connect multiple devices to the internet, instead of only having my laptop connect through the wired connection. I was somewhat successful in my objective. I was able to use my wireless router as an access point and now my laptop is connected to the internet wirelessly, however when I try to connect my phone or tablet I'm unsuccessful. They connect to the router but can't access the internet like my laptop. Can anyone help me fix this?

Usually it is against the AUP to have more than one device connected to a single point in residence, just a warning. Try connectify wifi hotspot on your laptop to share the internet connection. The system usually works on a MAC based authenticity and only allows one MAC address internet access.

Again unsuccessful. My phone and tablet can connect to connectify but they can't access the internet. Are there any other options?

Speak to your res IT Rep. When I was there I recall having to register my Laptop's MAC with ICTS.
