70 to 90ms is pathetic. I used to have iburst and it was a pain. At the start of rounds in CS:S, my ping would jump to over 999 consistently, and then fall back to 150. Even with their "optimization" i doubt there would be any difference.

Bad internet is bad. Bad latency's are bad. Bad speeds are bad.

If you want to game, get DSL.

Telkom adsl is slower internationally from what ive seen, I would suggest using whatever product supplies you with the lowest international latency in your area.

Suggestions:

Screamer Wimax (telkom/vodacom(iburst) wimax will both fail because they access telkoms degraded infrastructure)
MTN 3G
WISP (wireless internet service providers)

Eek...70-90...no good when in a clannie and your opponent has a better ping...

I have a constant ping of 45 using WebAfrica ADSL (In other words telkom)...WAY better in my opinion.

Ever tried international gaming or even surfing on iBurst network?
iBurst really need to do something about their international service cos it's not up to scratch...

The iGame admins also seem to think there is a Halo above their heads!

I'm sticking with my 384 thanks... It's not the fastest or the best by far... but with regards to gaming, it sure is reliable.

Wireless gaming and iBurst should not even be in the same sentence.

I did mention in the article that it is not absolutely ideal, and that ADSL is still far superior.

The unfortunate truth, is that there are many people living in SA that cannot get an ADSL line put into their house. In their cases, iBurst is better than nothing. 80ms is really not thaaaat bad, I know its not great, but it beats having nothing at all.

Whether or not wireless technology will every be able to supply sub 50 latencies is another debate. For now we are stuck with it.

Not everybody plays seriously, or in a clan. I would never recommend a person swap over from ADSL to iBurst, or any wireless for that matter.

Paying more to "beat having nothing at all" doesnt cut it. You guys need to be more harsh, regardless how much these companies pay you.

LOL!!!
Are you new to wirelesS?
There is no way that wireless will be better than fixed line ever in terms of latency.
So you say that the likes of MTN, Screamer and other WISPs are not using the Telkom infrastructure for interntional? well thats interesting, the only thing that leaves is satellite then and I can assure you that satellite is going to have worse latency than the international fiber link.

I play on iGame server's regularly and not only are the server's well managed by igame staff, but as an iburst subscriber I am pleased that they have this service. I mainly play COD4. Come join in the fun on the hardcore server!

Would love to blow your brains! :D :p
