Wireless Home Alarm Systems

Of course they don't like them
They can't make money of you.
They are the best systems available and you don't need a paradox degree to install it or work it.
They are fantastic systems. I havr them installed in multiple locations
my old dsc one needs a degree as well, the programming through the keypad is a pain in the ass

I just need to get the relays as well, as my current alarm uses a permicon , essentially connects to the dialer port on my current panel, so if i go to the ajax, my armed response will need to put an old fsk radio in again

I've had a number of burglaries since early July. First 2 years of having my new place I had new issues. I reckon the same people keep coming back.

They keep breaking into the shed out at the back of my house... as well as petty theft off the stoep.

I haven't had anyone break into the main house.

I have an older IDS system installed, with sensors throughout the house. This is a wired only system.

I need motion protectors in the yard. I'd say at least two in the front and two in the back.

The first quote I received was a little confusing. They quoted me to install at ajax system with a couple of motion protects outside, and then set up hik-vision cameras outside. So this would leave me to then use the old IDS system inside. I don't see why I need ajax plus hik-vision. This was a rather pricey quote.

Then, the armed response company I signed up with have quoted to upgrade my existing system.

The propose putting in:

  • Paradox MG5050 TM70 Upgrade Kit
  • ATSUMI 90 DEGREE WIRELESS 433MHZ ADJ PIR (5 x motion detectors)
  • IDS 2 channel receiver (so i can use the same remote to control alarms at 2 houses)

This is all new to me. Any suggestions.

The ajax stuff looks good, but I don't see why I need the hik-vision cameras as well. And this setup would leave me having to use the existing old system for inside the house?

Rather go with the paradox and 90 degree motion detectors??
I would start with an electric fence to dissuade the SOBs from entering your property ...

I have an old DSC as well that I am considering upgrading by replacing the controller board for around R2.5K

I looked at the cost of replacing my dead outdoor beams, some sketchy wiring that needs replacing , etc, what I like about the Ajax, is a) wifi , my fibre is always on, b) cellular backup , currently this permaconn thing only has a vodacom sim, so loadshedding means they don’t actually know my alarm has been triggered, c) the cameras in the beams, so I can quickly see if it’s our cats that triggered the alarm, or something that needs urgent getting to

There is the option to upgrade the dsc, mine, not sure of the panel , but the keypad is a oooold pk5501

Also have a look at the new Hikvision AX-Pro range - https://www.hikvision.com/africa/pr...ls&series=AX+PRO&checkedSubSeries=AX+PRO+Kits

This system integrates perfectly with my Hikvision camera system.

Loads of sensors that you can add.

I'm busy getting this system for my home and ordered from these stores.

Geewix - https://www.geewiz.co.za/search?controller=search&s=Hikvision+AX-PRO
Takealot - https://www.takealot.com/hikvision-wireless-control-panel-ax-pro-kit-ds-pwa64-kit-we/PLID72961856
CCTV direct - https://cctv-direct.co.za/collections/alarm-systems
https://wcctv.co.za/product-category/alarms/wireless-alarms/hikvision-ax-pro-wireless-alarms/ - nice range of add-ons for this system

This is what I ordered so far:

1 x
Hikvision Wireless Control Panel AX Pro Kit (DS-PWA64-KIT-WE) - from Takealot - R 3749
5 x Hikvision DS-PDP15P-EG2-WE Wireles PIR Detectors - from Geewiz - R 649 each
1 xHikvision Wireless internal sounder for AX Pro - from CCTV direct - R799
3 x-More Hikvision AX-PRO Wireless Door Contacts - Geewiz - R410

Still to buy :
-Hikvision AX-PRO Wireless Smoke Detector - Geewiz - R932
-Hikvision AX-PRO Wireless Panic Button - Geewiz - R351
-Hikvision AX-PRO Wireless Outdoor Dual Tech Detector - Geewiz - R2980
sooo, i ditched the ajax idea, and went with the Ax Pro, i got more PIR's out of it all, and saved around R5k , just waiting for delivery of 1 more relay module ( to trigger the alarm radio, ) a door contact, and 2 more beams

So far, very impressed, easy setup ( only thing i'm battling with is the telkom mobile sim , i went telkom, as they have the better reception in my area).

The camera on the outdoor beams, brilliant!

Got my stuff through Regal though (:

What cameras are best?
Am looking to upgrade my whole security system, and am gathering quotes.
Also looking at setting up Ajax myself.

in the meantime, I want to get atleast one camera - main purpose would be to monitor my shed in the back yard at night.
have had a number of break-ins this year. all in the shed.

I ordered an Ezviz C3X on takealot, then realized it wasn't battery operated. Not such a hassle to wire it.
also looking at the Ezviz BC1C which is battery operated. Also look at a few of the C3A's.
I sent an enquiry to the distributor asking how the night vision on the various models is, but received a rather poor / vague response.

Anyone got experience with these?

the camera would be positioned on the wall of the house, I'd say 15 metres or so from the shed.
it needs to pick up movement between the house and the shed at night time. and preferably right at the shed door too

Go wired. Wireless sounds good in theory, but in practice you're replacing batteries all the time.
Yes..and no. i think it depends on the brand.

The house I bought has a DSC system with 80% wireless sensors and 2 x repeaters. The owners said they replaced batteries 6 months before i bought it.

I've been in a year now and its still working fine, no sensors complained about batteries yet. So that's around 1 year 6 months. My research indicates anything up to 4 years on a DSC system but it is very dependent on how "busy" the sensor is too.

the Ezviz BC1C says 210 days battery life, I think the wired C3X might have better night vision though

So, my Ax pro is fully installed, and working really well! Using wireless relays to trigger the current radio from the alarm company, but apparently there is an interface cable available for it. Have ordered it, and will repurpose the relays :)

Mine is mostly Paradox, the DG85's seem to last about 6 months. I only have 2 on batteries, while its a pain (as ladders are involved), its not the end of the world.

The system also doesn't let you know the batteries are low. Or at least not in an easy manner (no battery state per sensor that I can see).

I can find out from Babyware, but not easily via other methods. Babyware basically reports lost transmission to sensor so I can guess - battery time...

Apparently, i've yet to see it so can't confirm, but according to ADT the DSC panel will show you a battery low condition with a service light - and in the trouble menu will show which sensor has a low battery.
I've not seen it yet.

However, i've yet to see it.

I have the K37 wireless keypad.

Definitely doesn't say what sensor is out of battery. You'll get a trouble warning, but it won't say what sensor it is, you basically need to open Babyware to see which one is whining.

It's not available in PAI either.

I must say i'm not massively impressed with Olarm. It doesn't really give me much info - like no diagnostic stuff despite it simulating a DSC panel.
Also even with software upgrade, it always arms my alarm in Away when I choose Stay...

Would be nice to get low battery sensor warnings on my phone...

The ax pro kit does the ( and the stay bypass) flawlessly , best tech I bought this year ( so far )

I assume you mean you REPLACED the entire DSC system with the AX PRO?

I did, worth every cent! And half the price of the Ajax

Even the tech from my armed response was commenting on hold old the dsc was

Ok. will think about it. I've got a BIG DSC install here.

And my credit-card is reeling from home improvements and solar upgrades. In fact, its actually dead as door-nail.

I had 7 outdoor, 9 indoor , 5 door contacts to replace , however, the newer outdoor ones have better range, so the 7 been replaced by 4

Do you have a thread on your install? Keen to see the components
