Wiring up a cat 5 cable

Tried to replace plugs on a few cables.
Now they don't work.
Have not done this in 20 years or so ......
Is this the correct wiring for a normal cat 5 cable?

Yes, that's correct. You can also swop the green and orange pairs, which will give you the B standard.
 
I got some bum connectors, the cartridge would not seat no matter what you did, battled to crimp and just gave endless problems.
Tossed the lot and got some from Scoop and they just work, you fit, test and move on.
Try a different make perhaps.
 
unfortunately not all RJ's are made equal and besides solid and stranded cable you get solid and stranded RJ's

Then the crimper, then the cable... Buy right crimp once
 
don't think I've ever used TIA 568A

568B only.

electrically they're the same.
