Witchfest 2015

Yeah - it is in Newtown.

WDP seem to be convinced that there will be plenty space - I just think that the inside of the venue is going to be a super uncomfortable place to be when the international acts are on.

They posted on their page that the number of tickets has been reduced. So it's only 1200 tickets per day.

That is still a lot of people to cram into such a small venue.

A thousand drunk metal heads crammed into a room with bad ventilation - sounds about right

I'll be honest - if I'd know it would be in Newtown I would've bought the R700 tickets last year.

However, at the moment I can't afford a ticket.

I think it is R1300 for all 3 days.

I see they are already planning the 2016 WitchFest.

Hopefully the same venue cockups won't happen.

I can't afford that now, either. Meh.

Maybe they should only disclose the venue location to those who purchase tickets, instead of announcing it publicly? That way Christian picket groups wouldn't have a chance to disrupt things again. I mean, we know it's going to be in Gauteng - but the exact location of the gig has to be kept a secret. Yay! We're back in the early 90's Metal underground movement days! :D

Guys, you need to make a plan to go there. After all the **** ups with the venue, loss of sponsors etc. these dudes need as much support as possible, or we may not get another Witch Fest.

I suspect they should have cut their losses, canned the event - for now - and planned the next one properly.

I don't think their Indigogo campaign is going to do much good.

I tend to agree. But, still come.

I'd love to go.

But I really can't afford it at the moment.

To be fair, as well - It wasn't their fault this turned into such a mission.

However, with the trouble that has been had in the past - think the failed Devil Driver tour - surely WDP should have known that there would probably be some resistance to them hosting the festival here?

That said - I don't see how these religious zealots have so much pull that they were able to get all sponsorship revoked and all of the venues to pull out.

I also wonder how Newtown / The Bassline are immune to the religious nut jobs...

Look, I'm more or less a week away from seeing some of my favorite bands. I couldn't care less if I sleep in a tight camping area or in a dumpster atm.

I got a whatsapp message from my Christian aunt today begging me not to go to Witchfest out of respect to "children of god" over Easter. You ****ing kidding me? After Christians had the audacity to try and scupper the whole event, now they try and appeal to us to respect them?
