the game prices are also a bit excessive. Wish they would make them more reasonable.

I really think this is a bit of an over reaction. Maybe sales are stalling due to so many people already having Wii's...

Yea that is the reason i sold my Wii, i got it with my cellphone contract butt he thought of spending 700 bucks on one game was too much for me as i would rather buy 2 pc games.

Games are far to expensive.

Yeah, because for an Xbox you really have no need for a big lcd tv...

I think the fad of the new technology is just dwindling...

What got Wii a lot of attention is its NEW way of playing games, well now everyone is use to it and even Sony and Microsoft is doing it, so now its back to graphics... Because on all other fronts the consoles are on par again...

Microsoft were the first to introduce motion-sensitive controllers years and years ago.

Their games cost way too much nevermind the console prices.

IMO Nintendo don't need to lower the console price - it's already pretty cheap. They just need to release more AAA games.

They always have this cycle of releasing a batch of killer games then having a huge period of time when there is nothing really worth getting. Wii Sports 2 will help their sales quite a lot, and Punch Out is looking great, but apart from that there is nothing coming out of the first party stables that screams to be bought. They're riding too much on the success of Wii Sports/Wii Fit/SSBB/Mario Galaxy right now, it's time for some new IP.

The fact is nobody can make mass market games that sell like Nintendo's in-house dev team. The motion sensor is just a trojan horse - a way of making the console accessible to the market they wanted to reach, which isn't necessarily those who analyse game sales.

I just checked their game prices again over the weekend at hi-fi corp. could not find a single game for less than R300.00 and those were the crappy ones. The premium games are all around R500 to R600 each. I know it is a console and not a PC, but I don't understand why the games have to cost so much more than their PC counterparts???

yeah the wii game prices are a bit hectic, what i used to do when i had my wii was to swap the games i already played with new one's at gamexchange. if you swap a good title for a new game then you only pay R80 or so (well thats how much it was for me last year or so) ...also if you looking to buy the wii i advise you buy 2nd hand, they have basically very low re-sale value and you can pick up one at around R2000 with a game or two. i bought my 2nd wii last year november for about R2000 with 3 games and two wiimotes :) but since sold it because there were hardly any decent games coming out for it!

thats probably why so many smaller shops are now selling the wii chipped !
i see alot of smaller shops in and around jhb now selling the wii chipped and 10 free games or so for around R3800 to R4200.

Don't get me wrong here, i'm not backing piracy but i can understand why there's such a big need for pirate games and chipped consoles etc now ...

Exactly! Maybe the same approach as inkjet printers with the games subsidizing the console.
