Wooing expatriates back

It's funny because if you speak to say an Arab company - they will prefer
a white employee over any other, even Arab. Oh well, move to

This is not to say that I think whites are better, but it is to say that skilled people
with some sort of aura of capability that 'caucasian race' implies (even if
its an incorrect perception) in some
regions have a big advantage in the Middle and Far East. It's a pity the local
government doesn't want to keep the brains here because they are
wanted elsewhere.

Dude you're not wrong. The caucasian race has proved itself time and again. As has Africa. So the despite the sensitivity around the truth, the proof will always be in the pudding.
 
I can't beleive the government will spend money trying to get expats back into the country. I'm sure it would be more cost effective keeping them here in the first place before they leave. Doesn't seem like this will ever happen especially when you have idiots like Charles blurting rubbish out in parliament. I loved London when i lived there for my two years and yes i also found a nice good for money place to stay out of central London. Koffiejunkie is 100% correct. There is tons of work if you have a skill and are not lazy.

The Govt are not spending money... its Corporations that are spending! well.. only FNB actually.

The foreign papers are more obsessed with Diana, EastEnders, Coronation Street, Big Brother, Pop Idol etc etc to actually care whats happening in SA.

What the international people remember is : Mandela, Dr Beetroot and Selebi (interpol)... and that is about it! altho alot of the people bundled Zim and SA together.
 
Most "international people" I've met so far has no clue who Beetroot, Mbeki or Selebi are. And a surprising number of people only know Mandela from seeing his face on the cover of Long Walk To Freedom - which is quite widely available here.
 
One of my student's family just got robbed at gunpoint last night. This happened in a secure complex and 2nd time they've been robbed. What's the point of coming back to work in this country when you are fairly safe somewhere else? Sigh at this country. Instead of Wooing back expats, rather admit that the crime is getting out of hand and do something about it.
 
Here here, but sadly nothing is going to be done about it. If they admit there is a problem it will mean that someone in government will actually have to work for a change (please i'm generalising and don't mean all government employees!).
 
BEE my *rs. You choose a candidate based on merit. simple as that. if i open a company, who the hell are they to tell me i must have black/coloured people working for me? it's my company so toss off!
