Did Vodacom not launch a 4GB bundle for R149/month on a 12-month contract, available from 1st of May?

Wasn't the extra 2 gig only for the 1st 3 months and what is the out of bundle rates and can I get that on a pre paid card?

I have 2 x 5 Gig pre paid Cell-C data cards

That "product" gets my blood boiling. Firstly it is a 24-month contract - The R149 per month fee is applicable to 12 months, which makes it the same as the Cell C offering, but what is hidden is the after that 12 months you have to pay normal MyGig 2 data contract prices of R349pm and the Night Owl data is only applicable to the first 12 months.

EDIT: Vodacom have removed this product from their website. Could this be to avoid further embarrassment?

No, it's a 2Gb product with more available if you are a night owl...

Oh yes, it was also in response to another operator's product. Why did Vodafone not release it first? Why be reactive and not proactive?

You mean like rolling out a 42M network? ;)

Just pulling your leg. :) I agree with you on the special. Go look at my posts, have always said Cell C leads on the pricing front.

However, I do question a lot of the "technical" stuff Lars comes up with, like 40% coverage. I suspect you agree with me. ;)

Yes, it was a stuffup of note and they'll have red faces (pun intended) for a while on that one. But VC did say today the deal is still 12-months for R149 for the 2GB plus another 2GB.

Way I understand it was the special only runs for 3 months, but the 4GB is for the full 12 months.

MTN have to respond. They have no choice.

But 8ta? Even if they wanted, I don't think they can. Another Neotel in the making.

You underestimate 8ta. Don't forget they have the best backbone infrastructure around.

That's not what some of the Cell C delegates think... the latest entrant to any telecoms market always benefits from using the latest technology, etc. They also have the benefit of Telkom's backhaul infrastructure and existng tower sites.

Maybe, and I hope I'm wrong. But that really just mean they should be good in business products, not necessarily consumer. They're completely in the shadow of Cell C at the moment. How will they get out? Can't really drop prices.

They already revised their forecasts down. The problem is what is their USP? Vodacom and MTN klaps them on voice and everyone talks about Cell C's data pricing.

So where do they fit in? What's their niche?

Don't see anything official from Vodacom clarifying the point there.

What more do you want from Vodacom than a statement from their rep? A document signed in Pieter Uys' blood? :)

There are more posts by both Vodacom reps, just did not feel like finding them for you. We'll know soon enough, in any case.
