Work environment and staff morale

And then you get those Japanese companies that put most focus on employee morale by introducing massage rooms, an hour without your tie, table tennis rooms, etc.

All of which have aided in improved production and productivity.

AND you get those companies who supply Apple with parts, that milk their employees as per House's suggestion. I wonder what hos companies use the suicide nets for...

Is he a boss?

No.

Those, including Google are only for the eye-blind, go ask some people working there, not the marketing-paid fans...

And those companies are the real success stories, not Google, etc., they generate an income per day that would exceed that of Google's annual income.

Anyone here watched "The Internship" yet? A lot of fiction there, but I still find the real Google culture to be somewhat distasteful. I think that one of the primary reasons that they've managed to stay where they are isn't all the fan fair and such, it's because they actually pay well above the market average. A lot of companies use their own "perks" as a proxy for competitive pay, which is BS.

I watched it and agree with the distasteful culture... more some of the really over the top "nerdy" aspects which seems to be exaggerated there. Also read some articles by former Google employees and I don't think I'll fit into the Google environment.

No company can function successfully in an informal environment. The companies claiming they provide great working environments and boost staff morale simply use a few aspects to market itself to the public, but the s**t happens behind the scenes.

Furthermore, staff morale and working environments are something employees focus on and desire and is not something companies agree with.

Informal attitudes / relationships between management and staff never worked before and never will work in future. Allowing staff to work the hours they want has never worked before and never will. Providing staff with too many benefits has also never worked and often leads to a greater loss.

So, leave "great staff morale building" and "pleasant working environments" dreams to those who cannot start their own businesses and has to rely on someone else to provide.

Well then I'm gonna have to stick around at my current work place because clearly I'm working at the "exception to the rule" :(
