work in Australia over 45

can you work in Australia over 45 does anyone know

Yes, if you are an Australian citizen.

Only people with exceptional skills in high demand would be the exception to get in over 45.

I've written off OZ as I'm now 46 and they closed all the visa loopholes. A few years back you could get in if you got a job washing dishes in a kitchen - but Australians are a racist crowd and did not like all the Asians using the loophole so shut it down.

A suggestion? Maybe chill with these non-capitalized obscure thread titles and one-sentence posts all the time. Give people something to work with...not everyone knows who you are.

"Hey, I'm currently 45 years old and have xyz skills and would like to consider moving to another country. Is it possible to get into Australia at this age with these skills, or would it be better to consider some other country (assuming there's another country)? I have family in Australia hence the consideration to move there. I'd consider staying in SA but I'm not hopeful @Pineapple Smurf will ever actually invite me over for a braai so...here we are trying to figure out what to do with the next few years."

If you are extremely talented in your work which forms part of their critical skills needs, then yes. You can also get in if you are extremely lucky (have contacts in the right places) or can find a company that will be willing to sponsor you a work VISA (if you are in the good books and working at a multi-national, you can try and ask for a transfer).

The fact that you had to ask this question makes me think you are like the average person, i.e without contacts.

To put it bluntly, if you are like most of us (average in every respect), it will be very hard but not impossible. It's probably even harder now due to COVID.

Most countries will try to make a lot of paperwork requirements to put off the average person or make it almost impossible for them to come over (they already have an excess of them and so don't want more).

Nope. If you're 45 you have no chance of getting in on a points based work permit. Even if you're on the critical skills list.

I got offered a job in January that had visa to Oz in the near future as a clickbait to get people to join them. When I told them my real age, 46, they were like sorry, but not sorry, they lied. They could not get me in.

Their visa system is based on points: degree; age; industry; etc

My mother lives in Oz and is now a citizen, well since the 90's and that doesn't help me pineapple smchidt with points.
