I think he means the seven year tribulation, not the rapture.

The rapture is based on 1 Thessalonians 4... and seems fairly clear...
The Coming of the Lord
13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 15 For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, [4] that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. What happens after that is not so clear. Does the rapture usher in a seven year tribulation period followed by 1000 year reign of Christ. Or is the rapture the final event before the consummation.
Your answer will betray you as a pre-millenarian, post-millenarian, or a-millenarian. :D

Everyone I've ever come across in Christian circles believes a rapture will take place and after that will be the 7 year tribulation. By this time a great war will break out involving Russia, China, The Persian Empire and Israel when all those nations will rise up to destroy Israel. Haven't gone into much of of Revelation prophecy myself though, but the basic fundamentals are there, the rapture and the tribulation :P

Nope 1st the tribulation then the rapture - don't you think the other people would notice If a couple of million if not Billion people were just to suddenly disapear from earth. Just imagine all those left behind suddenly praying in all earnest to be saved :D

What you are describing is called the Pre-Trib, Pre-Mill position. :) It has been popularised lately by John MacArthur and the "Left Behind" series of books by Tim LaHaye.
It has always been a very vocal position due to their insistence upon impending events.

But there are many other Christian groups out there that believe different, and they are not in the minority.
You get many Reformed Protestants who are either Post-Millennial or A-Millennial.
There is a growing movement today of Preterists who believe that most of the book of Revelation was fulfilled in 70AD and we are only waiting for the Return of Christ now.
The Catholics are not Pre-Millenial either. They are also A-millennial.

And Harold made a similair prediction, which he got wrong, back in the 90's? So...
 
I guess this means the ANC will lose the current elections....

Nobody takes it seriously.

In fact, I for one, can't wait until after 2012 when hopefully the entire human race can quit making dumb predictions for ever.

I'm not faithful and therefore won't be going to the afterlife, so I'm going to be left to suffer in the aftermath of the earthquakes and tremors :(
