World Ranking

lol i thought we'l be in the high 50's... wasn't to far off

We are now 52nd on the rankings. We are making steady progess up. Just to think few months ago, we were 82nd.

We are slowly getting there.
South Africa average position from FIFA World Ranking creation is 47

5 more places and we will be below our ranking average but I would still like to see us going back to the top 20.
It's also important to note that we have achieved the highest rankings when a local coach was in charge. When Clive Barker took over we were ranked outside top 100 and he took us to number 16, Trott Moloto had us at number 19. Now that we have a local coach again we are likely to get into the top 40 at least.

That would be a dream come true. SA back in top 20 would be class.

I'm all for Pitso taking the team to Brazil in 2014. I think that our big jump will come in February 2012, because I think that if we make it to the AFCON, we can go far. Continental finals are worth a lot of points, so we could make up a lot of ground then. We've only got the USA left this year, and a win there should help us a long, though not much, since it's a friendly.
