Worms attack Facebook, MySpace

Glad I'm not on these anymore.

Misread the title as "Woman attacks Facebook, Myspace" :o :D

The messages and comments include texts such as "Paris Hilton Tosses Dwarf On The Street"...

LAWLZ!!! :D:D:D:D

LOL!!! :D

I'm glad I don't trust any links that I get from friends , been rickrolled too many times in my lifetime :)

tsk tsk ........ and have you ever given any thought to what Rick has to say about that  Poor chap, being rolled about like that :p:D

Ugh.. forgot to tell my sis not to accept anything that pops
up on the browser, but luckily she normally calls me first if
something new or strange happens, like when facebook
strated using the new look (www.new.facebook.com)

Cmon, you can spot those bot/worm messages a mile away:

*mono-tone* "Hello my friend. I found this nice site that i thought you might enjoy. Click on this link please www.specialsiteformyspecialfriend.dumbass.ru"

lol

I wish these reports would be more accurate. This trojan only attacks Windows computers.... me on my Mac at work and Linux at home are safe.

My 64-bit supercomputer running 64-bit Linux is safe.... I hope :D

An IP address from which the worm gets downloaded onto your computer is the following: 78.108.178.45.
When you install the "flash upgrade" codename codecsetup.exe, the worm is downloaded from that IP.
I traced the server to running somewhere in Czech...

Speculate out loud

Oh. My. Word. And here I thought this was the first cross-platform, AJAX, web 2.0-killing worm that rides on Facebook's dodgy application framework or something cool like that at least. Instead it's just another lame trojan.

I guess I could Google it to find out but it's way more fun to speculate out loud about how this irritating little program works its mojo...

Since this so-called worm 'replicates' by posting links to itself on the walls of your Facebook and/or MySpace friends it stands to reason that it somehow gains your username and password. What's the most likely way it does this... Keylogger?

Cookie persistence. Your browser is logged in, user did all the work for you. All you have to do is automate some actions.
