We recently returned from the North Coast after a nice relaxing holiday and even though I expected a lot of traffic during the travel, I didn't expect to see so many horridly stupid and ridiculously selfish drivers on the N3/N2/N1! The amount of times we were pushed out of our lane by people trying to squeeze in front of you before a truck or riding right up your backside with lights flashing as they are doing +150km/h, had my blood boiling. Let's not even mention Van Reenen's Pass! I feel for those truck drivers that have to deal with this daily as people seem to be unable to follow the basic rules of the road or even show some basic level of common courtesy whilst driving.

The German branded vehicles were the absolute worst in my experience.
Rant over, please vote as I thought it would be an interesting poll to run!

Thanks

EDIT: Multiple votes open so feel free to go ham

VW, usually all different models but mostly Polo's, Amarok's and GTi's down here. An honourable mention to Ford but that seems limited to Ranger double cab bakkies.

I had something similar yesterday. Golf R using a turning lane to go straight, taxi-style, at a traffic intersection. So sorry that my little 1.6 shîtbox car isn't quick enough off the line that it ruined your day, Mr Golf:rolleyes:.

I learnt that road rage is not worth it, and I just let these fools go on their merry way. It doesn't matter whether you were in the right and they were in the wrong - cemeteries are filled with people who were 'right'. It just takes pissing off someone with a temper and access to a firearm or other weapon to ruin your life for good.

Voted BMW, however any long trip is like an encyclopedia of bad and aggressive driving and it comes from drivers of all cars. Chief among the worst offenders are the muppets who insist on overtaking on blind rises and blind corners...

It's no surprise our road death toll is as high as it is...

BMW... yesterday I had a new shiny black bmw on my tail around camps bay. Nowhere to go, car infront of me. Irony. its a 320i so not exactly fast to overtake.

Finally did this with Taxis, I expect the worst so when they inevitably do something terrible I just roll with it... When they actually do something decent or obey the rules of the road it comes as a nice surprise.

No taxi option? not even a Toyota option.

Rigged, rigged I tell you.

To be fair, there were a bit more decent drivers than bad ones but the ratio is pretty alarming. From my experience, the majority of upper class German branded drivers really drove like absolute phalluses! I get that everyone has somewhere to be in a hurry but this "me first and you last" thinking is horrid.

I'm the same - it's so expected by now that a minibus taxi will stop in the middle of the road, or use a turning lane to go straight, or push in front of you that it's just another day in paradise...but when this behaviour comes from someone who you expect better from, it makes me do a little head-shake from time to time.

I think the issue here is that I expect way too much from the average South African driver.

Down here in the poorest province it's mostly the cheaper German cars that are the aggressors, probably because the cheapest way to drive a 'German' car is to buy a Polo.

Other: No one. Everyone was well behaved on the road yesterday except for one biker rushing to get home. I could see the rain in the distance and floored it home, my 45 litre coolerbox bouncing about with my Volcano pan strapped to the top. Funny enough all the cars ahead of me swerved into the yellow lane allowing me to cruise comfortably at 150km/h past them, thanx guys

Went with other because there are assholes that drive every type of car brand you can think of.

This country has a poor driving culture and no matter what happens on the road, the offending party will never admit they are in the wrong. In fact they will believe or attempt to force you to believe that they were in the right and you were the idiot. You can't argue with these people they are insufferable.

When I drove to the coast earlier in the year the worst drivers were the double cab bakkie drivers. Be it Toyota or Ford or whatever, they all drove like jerks and for some reason can't maintain the same speed. Do their cars not come with cruise control?

I think it’s changed over the years. 2000-2005 was mostly BMWs
2005-2010 was BMWs and Audi
2010-2015 was BMWs, Audi, VW, Ford Rangers.
2015 - current is all bloody drivers, Mercs have joined and large powerful SUVs have joined in.

On my daily drive from Pta to Jhb on the highway the worst I found are
Toyota Hilux or Fortuner
Polo
Any taxi or uber
Any with a Pirates, Chiefs or any other soccer club sticker on the back
Any vehicle with a hat or tissue box on the back window sill

Ford rangers, they must love the smell of exhaust fumes.

Also been binge watching a lot of weekly Australia dash cam footage, surprised that I'm still alive considering the idiots on our roads.
