Since I've finally got access to ADSL I'm considering buying Guild Wars Factions and the Eye of North expansion. This will be my first intro into online gaming so I'm wondering if it's still worth it to get it at such a late stage?

I have got Prophecies, Nightfall and EoTN. I started recently again and it is still nice to play it. There are still loads of people online. I am even thinking of getting Factions soon :) The nice thing is that you pay for it once. If you don't play you lose nothing where as with WoW you pay monthly so the less you play the more you lose....

Sure you can buy the "Value-pack" (which IIRC is about R300) which includes all 3 campaigns and then pick up the EotN expansion for very cheap (R100 or so might even be down a bit now).

This costing you around R400-R500 is a bargain seeing as you will still be playing it for probably at least 8 months +.

That compared to any other game which you usually play for 8-12 weeks, just shows it good value for money.

PS You pick up on the skills you need very quickly and you are welcome in our alliance anytime (this will also help you get use to the game quicker, and help you progress faster).

Kalahari has Factions and Eye of the North for R86 each so I bought them. Was about to order Nightfall too but it went Out of stock as I was placing my order. Guess for R170 odd bucks it's worth it.

Nightfall + factions + EotN will keep ya busy for a while :)

How much was the nightfall campaign?

I think Nightfall was something like R130 or so. Too bad I was to late to get it.

If you have enough bandw.(so you can download it) you can buy it online with a credit card, think it might even be cheaper than R130. You can even ask around here for a game.dat file so you don't have to download it :)

Will check it out, but first want to play Factions and see if I actually like the game (which I'm sure I most likely will).

AFAIK, you can even install the game from someone else's disks. You just need to purchase the licenses from their website. I might be mistaken though :-)

You are indeed correct flarkit.
You can get the game data from basically anywhere / anyone, as long as you have a CD key, which can be bought separately, online.

And Crusader, Yes, I think it is still worth it to get into the game. It is very much a good game with all around fun, being able to what you want, when you want. No pressure on playing time, and relatively easy on beginners, etc.
You can play an hour a day and still get somewhere... many people even just stand around in the towns for hours and talk bs :)

+1 But I would have recomended Night Fall because it has heroes :p:D Makes the journey a bit easier imo.

Give me a shout (pm me) when you are ready to start and then I will invite you to our guild. I am very sure you will enjoy the game though :)

Will do. Still waiting for Kalahari to dispatch them. It says 'ordered from supplier', hopefully by next week I'll have it.
