I am in the market for a new monitor, but my budget is capped at R3k. I saw on carb there are plenty of these Samsung S27A950 for sale. Are they still worth it or should I rather go for the Dell SE2717H?

GPU: 1080ti

The Sammy has a far better refresh rate & response time. I had one way back & sold it to go 4K. (still working according to my buddy that I sold it to 6 years ago) It's EOL at the moment, so no warranty. I was always scared that the screen would permanently tilt to the left with the main hinge being on the right if even the slightest weight was put on it. So if you're going to be gaming on the monitor & willing to risk it, then I would say the Sammy...

Yeah, should have mentioned, I play FPS games. Since they are about 4-6 years old and still working, I am not that much worried about the warranty.

Since you had one already, would you buy it again, given the budget I have?

Get something with a higher refresh rate and response time...

Not sure if your budget allows it thou.

Also, 1080ti and you're gaming on 1080 resolution

Used to game on a 1440p 144hz freesync monitor, but had to sell it. Money is tight now, so can't get something with a higher RR and RT. That is why I am asking about the Samsung, as it seems to be the best I can get at this price point.

The samsung is an absolutely fantastic monitor; I had one, but it got stolen :(

OP, it would seem you will be able to source at least one for cheap on the secondhand market, Gumtree, OLX, etc...

Yeah it's a cool monitor, I nearly got one and then found out my laptop couldn't drive 120hz on it :(
