My 384kbps 3GB + 3GB Cybersmart account will be ending at the end of this month, mid month I will be jumping ship to Mweb's uncapped option. My question is it worth paying the extra for a 512kbps line?

The 4mb option is just too much at present.

A fully inclusive 384 package goes for R349pm vs R599pm for a 512 package.

Is the faster line speed really worth the extra R250pm? Will I see a solid improvemts for the extra greenbacks?

Many people use the same connection on many devices in our household.

Why is line rental SO much more expensive the faster the speed?

I am not a heavy downloader, but my current 384 just seems to slow for Web 2.0 (specially video streaming),will I see my moneys worth by going the 512 route.

All advice and experinces will be great...:wtf:

Yeah 384 sucks for streaming content... :( But 512 is just too expensive.

Don't think so, that it's worth. Rather wait for the upgrades announcements and take if from there.
I think you can do a mere ~20GB with 512 over 384.

384 ~ 40kBps down, 14kBps up @ R152
512 ~ 53KkBps down, 28kBps up @ ~R320
North worth double the price for that (although the extra upstream is nice).

512kb/s makes no sense financially, if you pay a little bit more you can get a 4Mb/s line.

Thanks for all the feedback so far: 384 is too slow vs 512 not the most financially viable option vs 4mb a ball breaker...if only there was a 1mb line option...

Actually all inclusive 512kbps @ R599 vs 4mb @ R899 is a big jump, granted for the R300pm extra you in theory get 4x faster speed

8 Times faster.

4MB/s all inclusive: Pay 50% more, get 800% more. No brainer.

What difference does it make?

What difference does it make when ADSL connectivity breaks every night, just after you've put the kids down and gotten stuck into whatever game you're into?

It doesn't matter how they structure access to a monopolized resource. All we have access to is a monopolized resource.

Ciao,
Sheldon.
