I'm running a new venture, and as a result have created a database of all the products and prices of a few major suppliers, Tarsus, Rectron, Axiz, Esquire, Frontosa so far. - which I then decided to put online. I hope to update it weekly/bi-weekly. Its pretty limited in functionality at the moment.....

A lot of the topics on this forum discuss pricing; would anybody be interested in having access to this online database? I use it to compare pricing amongst distis?

If you would find something like this usefull, please PM me. I don't want to list the address here and get RAS'd cause it is commercial ;)

Wouldn't it be illegal or something to list the prices to end users?

ME please.

thanx.

EDIT: Fliping excellent idea my man.......

Sounds like a great idea.
And I don't think it would be a legal problem either because even though you have the prices, if you aren't registered, you can't buy.

Infact, I think it will:
a) create brand awareness of what different suppliers sell
b) help resellers give better prices to end users
c) help improve healthy competition amongst the suppliers.

Please count me in when you get the site/list up and running!

I have PM'd everybody who asked, sorry if I missed you or PM'd you twice;)

I have finally uploaded the pricing for the companies mentioned. I will be uploading some more when I get them....

As far as the DB is concerned it is VERY basic, since it was built to meet my own needs only :) Currently, its pretty hard to actually compare prices - I plan to fix that first i.e. if you select E7300, you get every device with a dual-core processor, notebooks, desktops etc. So I want to add another field for device, and one for brand. Then you could select HP, Notebook, E7300 and compare only those fields that you want.

Its also not possible to search for only a part number since certain companies have different codes.....

As far as the legalities; lets just say that I have that covered :)

Any other ideas would be welcome!

You can pm me the addy. Legal or not though I'm pretty sure those pricelists say you're not allowed to distribute them etc.

just do it like this:

change the word Rectron to "Rectum Pricelist", the Frontosa to "Wantoza" and corex to "Colex"

then it would be legal, right?

Putting up dealer prices will cause severe unhappiness between buyers and sellers. End users will see the prices and start giving resellers hassles because they will want to fork out less and they will question resellers because they can now work out what the markup is on the products.

I think it is just looking for ****.
