What's your view on buying second-hand tech or demo units?

Is it too risky, or are there great deals to be had on certain types of hardware and gadgets?

I have, as long as the item is still in good condition and/or still has a warranty. With something like hard-drives I'll ask for a SMART report.

Depends on the seller - I wouldn't even buy a second hand camera from me but I'd buy a refurbished product from someone like Apple.

Of course, I've done so for many years from PC components to laptops to cameras and lenses to audio gear (receivers and speakers) and beyond. 95% of the experiences have been good (both sellers and goods).

Carbonite very good platform for trading.
Just read Bad Deals section, look at seller score and you would be OK.

Jip. Most of the stuff I own is 2nd hand.

Bought demo units from incredible connection at a 10% discount. And still have the warranty! Canon printer going well

yeah I've bought a few items second hand, and they haven't given me issues
