Carbonite very good platform for trading.
Just read Bad Deals section, look at seller score and you would be OK.

Bought a Nexus 10 2 or more years ago from a Carbonite seller. Still working perfectly, well priced, very happy chappy.

When it comes to PC's I prefer new and with a 3 year warranty. I will rather buy a new item on special or that is not the latest model therefore cheaper.

I think this is aimed at those of us who cannot afford to buy whatever we want new.

I can't afford 'whatever I want'. If 'I could buy whatever I want' I wouldn't buy older tech, still under warranty, but not the best but affordable. Even then if there is something I would 'like to have' I'll save up for it until I can afford it. This means sometimes waiting 1 to 2 years. You can do and buy as you please. I prefer to wait longer and buy something new with a longer warranty as in the end it saves me money. Some prefer to get something NOW and buy it second hand and hope it doesn't give any issues. Either way each have their pros and cons.

Nope I would not. Happy to scrounge around until I get a good deal. Tech's fickle. Need that warrantee.

Depends on the good and how much money I've got at any one time (no retail therapy like buying brand new)

Don't think I've bought any second hand tech, but I happily use some used gear from the office when it's not needed anymore or on a "long loan" ;).

When buying 2nd hand mobiles
Is the non removable battery an issue ? I mean, would you buy 2 yr old iPhone or 2014 Nexus 6 ?
Or is this just an extra hidden cost in time

Yes non removal batteries are an issue.

On the Android side though, the tech from flag ships do filter down to the mid range in that 2 year period.

I've bought a lot of second hand tech over the years and (touch wood) none of it has ever failed on me. They usually filter down to my family as I upgrade.

What's your view on buying second-hand tech or demo units?

Is it too risky, or are there great deals to be had on certain types of hardware and gadgets?
Yep depending on several things.

I have a 2nd hand PS3 I got around 4 years ago and I won a demo tablet from mybb about 5 years back that is still going strong.

I don't see an issue at all.
