I tend to buy new. It's all about warrantees. I'll probably never use it, but when I need to use the warranty I'd like to know I wouldn't need to jump through hoops to get things repaired or replaced.

In 2012 I bought the motherboard, CPUs and case in my sig as well as 16 GB RAM for R 10k including postage. I also bought a pair of GTX 580s for R 2k each - the total is about what I would have paid for a six core Core i7, high end motherboard, RAM and single card (no case though) had I gone new. Those CPUs were originally bought from SPL at a cost of R 35k each (invoice was included). Buying second hand can have major benefits ;)

I buy most things secondhand.

Really don't care about warranty.... Unless it's a known issue(which you'll know about buying it a while after new) tech doesn't just break that often.

And if I, or something/one else, break it, well that's what insurance is for.

And it's not uncommon to get secondhand tech for less than half price of new, even if you have to replace you're still saving

<R2 000 + warranty = Good

I'm very risk averse, so I wouldn't buy anything that's more than R2 000 without at least a year of the warranty left.
