Im paying for a service, and I can download what I need when I need. I dont feel I need to download 24/7 because Im paying.

If you believe that you should go join the ANC. They work well with sense of entitlements there!!

Yeh - I do - I proof read them after I post and add if I wish too.. so fast that they don't get modified time stamps.

You're a bit confused...the ANC entitlement is getting something you haven't paid...

did I ever say that we dont pay a premium? no I didnt. If you read anything that I've posted previously about Telkom, you should know that I have huge issues with them. But I also have issues with people who are too retarded to realise that regardless of what you or I think about Telkom and the current state of the telecoms industry, we each have a responsibility not to abuse what we have available.

Hoooold on a second.

You want us to stop "abusing" the internet, so that they can justify no more speed increases for the forseeable future.

If there was ample capacity, prices would go up for the higher package prices. It is us who over use the service that are moving the telecommunications sector onwards, without us, we wouldn't need a second or third cable to land to provide extra capacity and thereby bring prices down.

It is our right, nay our RESPONSIBILITY to abuse the network until it can handle it, and then abuse it some more until the same service can be afforded to those who currently can not. Internet is a Human Right, ask Sweden.

By this logic, my downloading of [totally legal stuff] is saving the country, and I will continue to do it.

you not seeing the bigger picture. Can you stop being selfish for one minute and consider your fellow neighbor or alike

telkom fail hard. they havent ever delivered, they dont deliver, and probably never will. so they upgrade the speeds and we all carry on downloading as much as humanly possible. (read : excessive downloading)

so while you feel you entitled to (coz you pay) your mate down the street cant even USE his line coz the exchange is so congested (and guess what he pays as well). telkom's issue I know, but if we all helped out a little, wouldnt the world be a better place.

im simply talking about being considerate until telkom get their ass into gear WRT the congested exchanges issue
 
The problem with your theory is when is enough enough, and who decides? What is stopping telkom from adding more people to the exchange because its under utilized and then WHAM... everyone is screwed because there are to many people on the exchange.

It has nothing to do with "downloading as much as you can" - some of the exchanges were overloaded before uncapped came along.
 
What about us capped service users? Are we supposed to also just use half of our cap to help out our buddies down the road or help Telkom by putting less pressure on them?
We pay for 50 GB, get 1 GB for free and when we reach the cap we simply top up. Our ISP won't throttle us since we pay for every GB, and we expect Telkom to give us full speed all the time as well. Wifey and me are downloading music, movies, series, software, upgrades and stuffz as we see fit. We pay for it so I can't see any abuse of service.
 
Thanks for the opinions I now know that ISP company cant touch you for downloading, unless if they have a court order or if someone.

This thread is getting interesting i must say.

If the network is congested, doesn't that mean the ISP and Telkom will upgrade capacity on their network, meaning faster access and more customers which means more money?? I think people should not be ashamed of downloading too much because they are paying for uncapped. Most ISP advertise their uncapped net saying "use as much data as you want, subject to our AUP"

Since we in 3rd world country and Telkom has to spend alot on cable theft, I think we should be nice so that other people who pay for net can download too.

I feel sorry for people who have ADSL and live in an area where there are more than 2 businesses running.
