Once it is no longer compulsory, you are welcome to carrying on wearing a mask wherever you like, I honestly could not care less, and will not judge you (or anyone else) for it either.

HOWEVER, I expect the some respect in return for my choice NOT to continue wearing a mask. It is that simple, I will respect your choice, as long as you respect mine.

Not. Maybe.

If your measure of infectious is symptomatic you are somewhat ignorant of how this works.

The bulk of infected will be asymptomatic. By the time you *are* symptomatic, you have already been infectious for some time.

People die. It's what they do. If not COVID, then cancer, diabetes, congestive heart failure....

People die. My advice, accept and embrace this or your life is going to devolve into one of hopelessness and misery.

If true, you are deluding yourself that they are only at risk to *this* disease....

1) I love how you select chunks of my reply and even leave out things to bolster your argument. Yes, I said maybe, but funny how you left this out:

So before I got bronchitis did I maybe pass the flu onto someone? Sure. Maybe. In fact, probably. The likelihood that anyone I accidentally passed it onto got sick enough to die? Probably less than 0.01%, at least according these numbers.

2) Yes, people die. I accepted that one day my loved ones WILL be taken from me, or I will be taken from them. That is life. But that doesn't mean I will live a careless existence that puts them/myself at even greater risk. That's what you fail to understand from my argument.

3) THIS disease poses a greater risk than many others that came before it, simply because of the vector of transmission (it's airborne). Thankfully, the risk from this vector of transmission can be mitigated by wearing a mask, at least according to experts who probably know more than randoms on Facebook/Twitter/MyBroadband. Also, the good news is that diabetes, cancer, congestive heart failure are not airborne viruses, and some can be prevented simply through healthy living, at least until a certain age, after which genetics/environment is more likely to be a factor.

Not sure what your gripe is.

You stated it. I challenged you on it.

Again, see above. Which I quoted for you previously. It seems that you're trying to make an argument (somehow) that because I likely passed on flu to someone, and that person might have died, that I shouldn't be worried about wearing a mask for covid?

But I guess at this point I've made my arguments clear. I don't understand the lack of empathy coming from some people on this forum, but maybe it's simply ignorance/sociopathy/inability to empathise with others.

I have made it my policy not to judge anyone for not wearing a mask.
I think it would be a great initiative to print a bunch of stickers with that sentiment emblazoned. It just needs a catchy slogan...
Reverse "virtue signalling", so to speak.

Except the non-forum/FB based experts have no consensus with regards to the wearing of a mask as it relates to specifically avoiding transmission of Covid19.

This was the case at the beginning of the pandemic and is still the case now, with further evidence pointing to masks being (at best) ineffective and (at worst) harmful.

Personally, if given the choice I simply won't be wearing one unless in very close proximity to others and in a confined space.

Yup.

Even without a pandemic I’d strongly consider wearing a mask at work now during flu season etc.

Not getting sick this last year was magical.

This.

I now wear a good quality surgical mask all the time when out of the house. It actually feels better breathing in somewhat cleaner filtered air too.

It would then be up to shops and malls to decide. Already most people quite sensibly don't wear one when they're outside.

Other, depends on where in public, crowded spaces and malls yes, when we are at the beach or parks then no.
Already don't wear a mask outdoors.

The problem is your immune system , are not staying strong , and you do not build a natural defense against variants of the flu , in 10 years time maybe you could die of normal flu , as other people have build up resistance

I have no immune system due to being on immune suppressants so I get sick at the drop of a hat.

No need to go put yourself out there in harms way under the guise of strengthening your immune system either, it will do it all by itself.

In fact the lack of immune system is likely why I haven’t gotten Covid, or I did get it and it was insignificant for the lack of immune system trying to fight it.

Sometimes those spares in the car were taken out to be washed... and forgot about them and did not place them back in the car
I just run some water over the N95 occasionally.

That is where the extra tee in the car comes in handy, they usually sell masks at the entrance, so tee around nose and mouth, buy mask and off you go.
If it's at the entrance why would you even bother with the t-shirt? For that matter if you have a t-shirt lying around why would you bother to buy a mask? Just put the t-shirt over your mouth and go into the shops.
