i am considering a move to WAR, just for fun and a new start,,, what do you guys think, ofc i want both sides of the arguement,

things i dont want however:
stupid fanboys telling us that the other game is crap, as they are not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i would give anything to play wow... but due to certain curcumstances i cant

WoW has more guides available dude! How would u play WAR without guides?!

You don't need guides to play WoW or War ...

I was teasing scofield because he asked for WoW guides on more than one occasion.

But obviously u thought I was serious, sigh.

To judge by the ammount of exclamation marks you used !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think you have made up your mind already. Neither game is crap, but they are quite different from one another. In fact it is only one WAR fanboy on this forum that is going around shouting wow is crap.
For me wow is the game to play, it have a good PVE basis and I can do PVP whenever I feel like it. Maybe I will create a war char as well just for the PVP aspect of the game, but I don't have that much time to play.

Ok this is just silly seriously both games will make use of each others features, pvpness and so on its just how the gaming industry rolls. Personally I don't think WAR will sway me away from WoW but thats just me. Someday these two games will end up being exactly the same. Currently though WoW has the advantage of being around for far longer and the backing of vivedi who are huge. Instead of wasting time judging which is beter on a forum try them urself since thier free and make up your own mind.

One last thing guides as you put them will always < than the forum communities like wowhead and wowwiki. Just read abit and stop bein lazy.

WOW's PVE is alot more developed, but you need a good guild to really get the full experience out of the game. WAR is a bit easier on casuals regarding PVE, particularly with its open groups systems. It's also more PVP focused, and that's where it really shines. WAR's PVE at the moment is good, but not great - but that can be expected, the game's hardly 2 months old (in Live).

Both have their strengths and weaknesses, and at the end of the day it's entirely up to you as to what you'd prefer to play. I enjoy both, but since the WOW 3.0 patch, I've taken a bit of a WAR hiatus. I do appreciate how on-the-ball Mythic is with WAR though. There's some great upcoming events and the launch of "new" classes and temporary scenarios.

I reactivated my WoW account yesterday, in fact.

WAR is great, but it has some major problems that are only now coming to light. Among them are, the engine is a resource hog, which is a problem when you have almost a hundred people on your screen trying to kill each other. Trying to PvP with 6 fps is.not.fun.
Second, there's some major netcode problems. Warping/ghosting, and mounted or naked player bugs. Constantly seeing "Out of range" starts getting old.
Lastly, even with the xp buffs and whatnot, there is very little incentive to actually do any RvR sub-endgame. Scenario grinding offers better xp per hour. Whereas spending 2 hours in a battle only to lose and get nothing out of it except a couple thousand xp that you would've gotten in two or three scenarios, is a massive problem. The entire premise of the game, RvR, is falling flat.

I've been a big defender and fan of WAR, but the problems are only now becoming apparent. This game needs a lot of work.
That said, I'm not going to cancel any time soon. Thing is, there's tons of potential, and Mythic have been diligently trying to fix issues. With time, I am certain they'll sort most if not all of them out. Unfortunately they won't be able to if everyone cancels. So I'll probably start up an alt and take things slow. Perhaps consider some major pc upgrades or even a replacement, because this game needs a BEAST once the RvR heats up. WAR is fun, the only problem now seems to be polishing it up to standard, and making the entire reason we picked this game - RvR - worth it.

Another thing is WoW has a lot of arb crap.
Novel items, mounts, events, pets and lotsa other stuff.
War was pretty much just the standard stuff from what i saw.
So there is never a moment of "Cool! look at that...where the hell can i get that!" in WAR.
Also i understand war is still new and will likely add these thigns later, but as it stands it doesnt have it.

This basically sums it up nicely.

If you want raid, grind, farm, quest and even do small scale PvP [1 vs 1 type stuff] then WoW is better .
If you want to fight primarily against other players, fight to gain control of world objectives [areas] , large scale PvP including sieges then WAR is better.

Also, at this stage, as Skurm mentioned WAR has too many players doing Scenarios aka "Battlegrounds" instead of RvR [world pvp] , which is why i can not compare WAR to WoW but rather to GuildWars.

If you played GuildWars, remove the instancing effect [when doing quests] , then you're pretty close to WAR...in fact the linearity you find in GuildWars is identical in WAR's PvE [you go from one town/node to another]. Even Guildwars got that "Realm vs. Realm" effect [Asia vs Europe vs US] that if one side wins a certain amount of times in the "arenas/battlegrounds" you get access to certain PvE content ...that's not far off from the WAR system.

So until WAR seriously ramp up the "Siege War/RvR" viability, it will essentially boil down to a boxed/instanced Scenario game similar to Guildwars.

Catch is, GuildWars got no monthly sub ;)

And this is why i'm keeping my eye on GuildWars 2....

Basically, at this point remove any desire or objective to engage in RvR while levelling, and the game is fine. If you want to do RvR stuff before lvl 40 though, you're probably going to be disspointed. It's a disorganised, zergy mess, where winning or losing is determined solely by numbers. I suppose you could compare it to trying to pug raids pre-BC. WAR's RVR will live or die based on how organised guilds can make it.
I think to enjoy WAR you need to make that decision to jsut powerlevel and ignore that element of the game. It's a bit of a pity because in that regard, it's a lot like WoW, where the raiding only started at 70. In this game it seems much the same, RvR will only really start at 40.

It does, however, look like I might have to seriously consider a PC upgrade or replacement to enjoy it fully.
