WoW

I am having a very peculiar problem... My internet is working fine, browsing, downloading, etc. but the problem i am having is with World Of Warcraft. Since last night my ping in WoW has been anywhere from 3000 to actually jumping to 25000 ms. Has anyone else experienced similiar problems? I am guessing it has something to do with the ports that the game is using and Telskum closing them off or caping them for some unfatomable reason??? I just would like to know if i am alone in this or if there are other people getting the same BS from our MOST favourite tele company in the WHOLE WIDE world...

Thanks for any input.

I have a similar problem, but with Guild Wars and EVE Online.

Also, the Ventrilo server my alliance uses has anywhere from 1000-30000 ping times... Can't play at all.

Having same problem with WoW from Friday night. Latency is just horrible - and that using NukeCap PAayVPN as well. Just impossible to play. Anybody with any ideas what the issues are?

Got the same problem on WoW. I'm noticing something else that's peculiar as well: FTP is also terribly slow to reply. Once the upload starts, it seems to be fine, but it takes a while to "come back".

Stupid Telkom! GAH!

I've had the same problem and I've figured out why browsing works but the ping times are high in WoW.

Do a continuous ping to any international site and you'll see that packets are being dropped. Local sites seem fine. These dropped packets add to the overall ping time in WoW and just causes a LOT of crap while playing.

I've tried to speak to telkom about this but no-one seems to give a damn :( Maybe someone else will have more luck.

*Sings* Only 6 more months 'til I immigrate, 6 more months 'til I immigrate!*

I cannot wait to say good riddance to such a totally inept and brainless company, who do not give a flying fudge about their customers. I can't wait for Telkom to burn in Hell... but first... I anticipate a collapse on the NYSE :P.

I phoned Telkom today and they told me they've been having a major problem in the Johannesburg area for 4-5 days now. Unfortunately there is not estimated time of fixing the problem so we just have to sit tight and wait for their "technicians" to fix the problem. *sigh* Telkom, Telkom, how i hate thee, let me count the ways...

Employee: 'Good morning, my name is XXXX. How may I be of a service to you?'

Caller: 'Your $%^$ÂŁ$"ÂŁÂŁ"$"ÂŁ%$ÂŁ"$ÂŁ^&"ÂŁ lines are $ÂŁ$ÂŁ"!ÂŁ%"" up! I just thought I'd tell you this because you're clearly not aware of the situation as it has been 5 days now and still there is no improvement!'

Employee: 'Yes, sir. This has been noted. I can't give you a reference number but I can assure you the problem will be resolved.'

Caller: 'That's not good enough! You sound like a pre-recorded message. You thrash this garbage out at everyone. When can we expect a resolution?'

Employee: 'Yes, sir. *Sifts through random excuse generator* Our technicians are attending to the problem but the fault lies on the American side. May I be of any further service to you?'

Caller: 'Yes, you can.... .....'

Employee: 'Thank you for calling Telkom. Have a nice day now.'

Caller: 'Now you hold on, I'm not finished with what I was wanting to do!'

*flat tone*

Hi there

I have been getting the same lag problems since Saturday. I usually get about 300ms to 500ms lag in game and now its up to 3000ms. Man its mad and its on the day off.

Cheers

Gun

I just phoned technical support. They're not aware of the problem. Typical! Does anyone know what performance to WoW is like on 3G?

Not very useful for gaming then.

I just checked the noticeboard for the saix network. Absolutely no mention of any current problems whatsoever.

how few have actually noticed this. I mean its not just wow, international DLs r slow, p2p suxx. I even tried out local warcraft servers and suffered from random disconnects and spikes

we aint playing f:) cking ppakman man here, cmon:mad:

"the problem is on the American side"

PURE TELKOM BULL&^%&. It's getting old.

i play on the European realms and im having the same prob so cant be on the us side:confused:

The same problem on two seperate WoW servers 5000km's from each other. Unlikely at most. Server problems can't effect us specificly. Plus the people say they are having problems with other overseas games.

The verdict: Telkom lies. *no surpirse*. Telkom errors. Telkom screws up, as usual.

Ya, I'm connecting to Europe, not the US, and I'm also suffering from major packet loss.
