I've been using my iPad Air 1 for note-taking and using my finger to draw diagrams.

The diagrams aren't detailed and don't require the precision of an Apple Pencil for example. Does anyone use a sort of stylus for writing on their iPad? If so, does it work well or should I wait and hope the Air 3 supports the Apple Pencil?

Not exactly what I'm looking for... Looking at a Wacom stylus on Takealot at R290 at the moment :)

Hi, I got a Adonit Jot Flip, I think it's discontinued, but the other Adonit ones with the flat disc work well, much better than those round rubber styluses.

Are the tips not easy to lose? That's what I read in one of the reviews

I have the Jot Pro, had it for 2 years(?) now? Have yet to lose a disc. Replaced one, but never lost one.

Paired with Notability- works like a charm. Easily the best stylus for writing I ever used - apart from the 'noise' of plastic on glass.

That said - I've never tried any of the more expensive 'smart' styli(i)? - so cannot compare what the Jot Pro offers in comparison to them. Guess I should rather say it is the best 'dumb'-stylus I've ever had for writing.

Great, thanks for the feedback! Leaning towards the Jot Mini at the moment after your feedback :)

If that works out and I use it well, I'll upgrade to the Pro or better in the next few months if the Mini feels too small (only complaint in a few reviews if you use it for an extended period)

Thought I should update this in case anyone else is interested.

I got the Jot Mini and I've been using it extensively with my iPad Air. The Air has now been replaced with an Air 2.

There was a fair bit of interference with the cover as it was a slide in cover and the edges of the cover would touch the screen... With the Air 2, I got a Griffin cover and that worked well but didn't have the "keyboard mode" folding option so it was flat or tilted too much to write or type on it.

I've replaced the cover with the original iPad Air 2 smart case in brown leather and it's absolutely perfect. No interference and it's really light when carrying it around

Show us a pic of the brown leather...how "brown" is it lol

Also what Apps do you use SplitScreen for the most?

I'll snap a pic in the next few days. Tapia talk on my phone isn't the best :p

At the moment, Evernote, Adobe Acrobat, Safari, Tapatalk and Mail :)

Took delivery of the Apple Pencil this afternoon. Wow.

Was worried I wouldn't see a justifiable difference in the writing experience between the Adonit Jot Pro and the Pencil, but ja - it's pretty big! :)

Did you by any chance have a tempered glass screen protector? I find that sometimes the stylus isn't 100% responsive.

I'd love an Apple Pencil!

When I used the Adonit? Nope - ran it without any protector. You having issues now with the Adonit? Might be the protector, if it's a tad on the thick side - but have a google, pretty sure you'd find if others had issues?

I think it's the screen protector. It's not too often and I can live with it at the moment. I'll try it on my Air 1 as that doesn't have a screen protector anymore

Based on a recommendation, downloaded the free keyboard app called MyScript Stylus...

Long story short, I can now use a stylus to "write anywhere" across the iPad, in any place where you would normally type. And what I write, gets accurately converted to text, instantly, and on the fly...

Bit of a game changer, to be honest, especially inside an app like Notability. AND it has dictionary support for Afrikaans, incredibly!?

Figured I'd make mention of it here, for anyone who is serious about writing and note taking on an iPad...
