Over it. Gave them enough chances.
Afrihost is not cut out to be a hosting company they should stick to adsl and be good at that, they have their fingers in too many different pies and loosing the ability to be good at something.
The ISP of the year awards this year showed that.
Hi!
I know this latest server outage was immensely frustrating, but I'm afraid in this instance there was nothing we could do to prevent this from happening.
All the affected sites and cloud servers should now be up and running again at full steam.
If they are not, please let me know ASAP!

Is that because you're now owned by MTN and thus you cant insist MTN makes sure their generators work or else you will move your business elsewhere?
A yes or no answer will suffice...
Unfortunately complete lack of communication from afrihost, coupled with network status page that was as unreliable as the government itself plus the total inadequate backbone (MTN) that afrihost is owned by make this your problem. And just shows how unprepared afrihost is as a hosting provider which they most definitely are not.
My shared accounts is small and won't really make a dent, but our dedicated servers will and it's time to vote with my wallet.

I know it doesn't always seem that we care, but we really do value each of our Clients greatly, and to see you feel that you have to move your Hosting to a different provider is definitely disappointing. If I can help in anyway during your move to your new provider please let me know.
I had a Cloud Server once upon a time with Afrihost, poor speeds, poor up time.
So I left, No offence but Afrihost's Hosting Services are NOT 'top notch'....

We're implementing major changes to our hardware and software vendors over the coming days, our Hosting stability and performance can definitely be better, and with our new partnerships - which we'll be able to share with you guys soon - I am sure there be significant improvements.
When I had the Cloud Server I noticed that from the Cloud Server it had no access to the MTN google cache servers (66.8.14.0)
It was rerouting all Google Services to the US (173.0.0.0), I even tried to to force the server to use the local MTN cache but it was not accepting requests, the Cloud Servers IP's seemed to be blocked by the MTN Google Cache?
Very strange indeed!
The routing from the MTN Data Center should definitely have included the local Google Cache Servers, I think we would have needed to check the configuration on the actual VMWare to see why that was happening.
They did poke and prod for a few days and confirmed that the Google Cache was rejecting the requests and my ticket was closed.
That is when I cancelled.![]()
@AfriGenie...Why didn't Afrihost send out a notification to its hosting customers?
@AfriGenie...Why didn't Afrihost send out a notification to its hosting customers?
As far as I know, a SMS notification should have been sent out once the notice was added to the website. Can you guys please let me know if this wasn't the case.
