So I have recently moved and no ADSL yet, a friend Kent be his cell c dongle in the meantime. I loaded up R250, tried to convert it to a 1gb bundle with the software and no, sorry. That's an invalid bundle size according to cell c, call 140.
Put the sum into my phone, try *147# and it fails to load multiple times. Tried *147*2# as well and same story.

So I call 140, get through after the weird menu and after telling the person my problem he says he would like to help me - well I hope so. He needs to know when I last loaded airtime... Its not my sim, its now on prepaid as the contract ended so I do not know. Now I have to call my friend and ask him to call but he does not have any other cell c sum. All this because their system does not work properly? The data isn't even cheap! R250 for 1gb!?

Go to a Cell C store, spend another R149 and buy the 3GB/R399 valid 365days voucher instead.

Phone first to see if they have stock and take the dongle with and let them load it themselves.

Just a suggestion.

Hmm, perhaps I should have done that.

Sorry for the typos in the thread title - phones auto correct.
I ended up trying a 500MB bundle for R150 (I know, right) and that went through.

So at least now I have internet, but it keeps randomly disconnecting - is this normal?
The Cell C app says I have full HSUPA signal and its connected and all and then suddenly webpages dont load and I need to reconnect, super annoying.

Also something else which I find a bit strange, before I connect it shows 3G - after connecting it shows HSUPA at times. Both have full signal though.

That's normal. You will also notice that when the dongle is on idle the colour is a dark blue and when you are browsing the light on the dongle changes to a cyan colour.

I got the same error with a R100 and higher as well. Don't even bother phoning 140 cause they got some of the daftest customer help line I have ever came across

Hmm, so at least its not just me having these issues.

I see Cell C randomly took R1.50 from me, although I have not made any phone calls from the sim nor sent any SMS'd and only connected after the data bundle was loaded.

Apart from the high prices, random disconnects and a few issues in their system its not bad I guess.
Ping seems alright for wireless, browsing speed is okish - as well as downloding speeds.

Perhaps try 8ta next time if your in coverage area - R149 for 2GB + 1GB(11pm-5am)
My CellC 3G disconnects all the time as well compared to hardly ever with the 8ta sim in the same modem.(that's on both sides of SA)Its become an un-enjoyable experience even using up what's left of my data plan with them each month now, those disconnect's start working on your patience after a while.

I have a lot of disconnects with the modem. Sometimes it happens like a couple of minutes apart from each other.

But with this RICA crap its a hassle to get another sim.

Data bundle purchase failure through CellC connector

I've just tried buying a data bundle through the control panel and keep getting the invalid bundle size as well (and I've tried all denominations), also my balance has started to decrease as it seems I'm getting charged for sms's for every failed attempt

I`ve noticed that since the beginning of September most options don`t work properly anymore. Also it seems that Cell C has changed their software infrastructure and that would lead me to believe that they are experiencing lots of problems with customers getting the brunt of it.
Are they gonna admit it? I don`t think so.They`ve woken up the giant with their data and call charges drop wiith the effect that they can`t seem to handle the extra influx of new subscribers(data and voicecalls).

I`ve been a subscriber since whoosh! and even ported my VC number to them and i can honestly say that the last couple of months have been the worst.I am and have been experiencing most of the issues that people are complaining about.

Me get aggravated?Don`t think so,not worth it(got on the beast & have to ride it out).Hopefully the problems will be solved soon and we all can be whoosing, calling and use all of the functions that the sim provides.

Me: 2 Cell C sims- one each for data & voicecalls.

Thanks goes out to the mods(and members) for keeping the respective reps on their toes.
