So some friends of mine in Bryanston have had no connectivity for 5 days now, when calling Vumatel they were told there's a cable break up the road from them but no ETA on resolution  come on! 5 days and no plans? What on earth is going on here?

This seems to be affecting the area around Halifax street in the Solridge neighborhood

Poor show

I hear too many bad sht about Vumatel, who just installed Fibre in my area. I'm remaining with my current WISP ISP when I change over. They've also offered to keep my internet dish installed, in case the Fibre cuts out I can just contact the call centre to be transfered over to WISP until the Fibre is sorted out again, at no extra cost.

I must say my installation has been quite decent, but wow, the area where this friend lives is just something else, the reliability has been worse than Telkoms old DSL...

And the funny thing is the vuma offices are less than a km down the road from this problem area...

Apparently the ETA is now only for Friday, so that's a week with no internet connectivity

Well I'm sorted with the Wireless Dish that'll remain on the roof in case the Fibre is offline luckily. So at least I will have a back up in necessary.

So its been more than a week now and still down - these friends of mine had a few minutes reprieve on Thursday, but that lasted literally and hour or so, and they're still down

Very very poor show

I should point out when they had to make a major change to the network in my area we were informed, and the outage was fixed promptly and ahead of schedule - whats gone so badly wrong this time?

Wow this is crazy. As we speak on this Saturday, Vumatel is busy installing the Fibre to my home. So I'm hoping not to have a similar experience. As I've stated before, lucky I can keep my WISP dish in case the Fibre is offline I just contact my ISP to switch me back to WISP until the problem is solved.

You might get a better response posting this in the CISP feedback thread.

So I'm having issues with Vumatel form day 1 of my connection which was this past Tuesday, where my internet capacity only runs at 50%, appr 50/100mbs speed. I've received a confirmations sms from them, informing me it takes up to 3 working days, but could be longer depending on the nature of the issue at hand, wtf. It's one thing to deal with an ISP, it's another ball game when the fibre provider is the issue. So now one has to deal with both, wtf? Maybe one should considert LTE instead or perhaps no internet, cause I've seen some bad reviews here on MBB about Vumatel, ffs??????????????

Now Vumatel is telling me and my ISP there's nothing wrong with my line running at 50% capacity only. My ISP is now going to come out to my house to check the sht out. Can u believe this BS with Vuma. They're worse than Trollkom ffs??????????

So I got my newly installed Vumatel fibre sorted out that was only running on 50% capacity after three days. The problem was that there were two networks one could connect to, the normal once which gave me only half the speed and a 5GHz connection which is the correct one which provides me the full 100mbs connection. In order to make that possible I had to connect my PS4 up directly via a LAN cable to my router as it couldn't connect via Wifi to this network. Unfortunately my Sony Xperia phone is the only other device in my house that can connect to this network via WiFi, but neither my TV or my Lenovo tablet can. I'm however pretty sure that my TV would be able to connect if it's directly linked via a LAN cable to the router as well similar to the gaming console. The problem is how do I get my Lenovo 10" tablet to connect too, as I sometimes like to stream Netflix and sports on this device as well. Does a mini LAN cable exist that I can use for my tablet or not, or perhaps any other options that can be applied. Any one's input will be greatly appreciated for sure, thank you?

Get a decent Access point/Router and replace whatever useless wireless device you have

Lenovo is brand new, very good brand name tbh? Router might be an option, could speak to my ISP and see if that can be arranged, thx.

Did not mean the Lenovo is useless, your wireless AP is though by the sounds of it. What router/AP do you have?

Tenda AC6 AC1200. In fact just got a call back from my ISP technical staff and the guy tells me it's unlikely that one would find a solution to the issue if the device isn't 5GHz compatible, he hasn't heard of a mini LAN connection for tablets either??????

That's not a bad router.
You want your phone/tablet to connect to 2.4Ghz in any case as that penetrates walls better than 5Ghz....
How far is your TV from the AP?
