Just remmeber with ADSL and Broadband the only legal company's up to date are:
Telkom
Sentech
Iburst

The others will be shutdown sooner or later...

SIMPLE SIMON
if ure interested in a wifi wisp that doesnt charge i can recommend one in ct that doesnt charge for the installation costs.
And Sihen true that their the only legal ones but damn im not gonna be running scared left right and center of the gov on this one.
If telkom had their way we would all have to pay 30k a month just to connect to our neighbours house to share our pron with each other. the only ppl that benefit out of the way our legislation works at the mo is coincedentally TELKOM, SENTECH, and in the future IBurst.
If you look at it all these companies have a nice greasing it seems with the gov.
TELKOM goverment owned
sentech previous and still goverment
IBURST the guys who rolled out the national lottery system.(true that their performance is exceptional but come on why do they get a 3g license so easily? and the WISP communities have no leverage with gov so they will always be the black sheep in the networking community)

iBust (WBO/WDO/WBS... or something) already had a license, they just asked for the license to be ammended. i think they wanted to roll out some two way communication device that an electronics company developed. after they got the license, the electronics company dropped the product and iBurst was left with a useless license.

a) iBurst is the broadband technology being used http://www.iburst.co.za

b) Wireless Business Solutions (WBS) is the company licensed for data on the 1.8Ghz spectrum http://www.wbsmobile.co.za

c) ArrayComm are the creators of the iBurst technology http://www.arraycomm.com

d) Kyocera are the equipment manufacturers and suppliers of the iBurst technology http://global.kyocera.com/prdct/telecom/office/iburst/index.html

Kyocera did not drop the product, and I would not say the license for data is useless.

ArrayComm still handle the core driver development around the chipsets.

Good to see they don't just hand it all off to the manufacturers.

anyway guys go check in the main wifi wisp section now if you wanna continue the discussion.

SA Wireless

i came across www.sawireless.co.za, their prices are extremely low compared to sentech and telkom. i have requested information from them. what i want to know if there is anyone using there service yet and what is it like, i understand that they are a new company and i'm willing to support them, i refuse to use telkom or sentech(which is just a subsidiary of it). I see that these guys have been slated on this site but there are no recent posts relating to this company. does anyone have experiences to share.
