All I can say is :D

I think for the content I'll just redownload all the stuff that I want on the server for viewing as I delete things from time to time and then rename them appropriately.

With the renaming, I prefer to have the artwork and info files saved in the folders rather than only in the XBMC db, I use the built in (in Openelec) sickbeard and couchpotatoe to control the scraping and doing the filling for me.
It takes a bit longer initially but just being able to dump new files into a "to file" folder and it taking care of the filing and scraping automagically is fantastic.
If you are running multiple machines accessing the media it also saves a lot of time and bandwidth duplicating the scraping.

Anyone got any good plugins to share?
Anyone using the Fusion installer?

I know lots of people advocate it, but have you tried openelec? Especially for those older pcs. It boots really quick and is much more responsive. The setup is quite easy as well.

He said he used it initially.

I installed XBMCHub. It installs most of the major add-ons. I enjoy it because I've found a bunch of Addons that I wouldn't have added myself and it's very simple to do.

I just do a periodic library export to separate files from the videos settings...

Has anyone had success adding streaming services (not using DI or Tune In) to XBMC? I am trying to get my XBMC to play RSG.

I started my XBMC experience with Openelec and was a big fan of it, but it began giving me troubles which because it was so limited, required me to SSH into the machine which for a noob like me was painful as I didn't know the commands to use, so constantly had to google for every line of code to run. Because of that it required 2 reinstalls when I hit a brick wall. I also stream from Supersport's site so it became impossible to do after Supersport introduced their DRM module to only stream from a flash-enabled browser. I've found that a simple Windows installation runs incredibly smoothly and I simply set XBMC to auto-start on login. I am far happier with my Windows installations than I was with Openelec...

Openelec works very well with transmission for torrents and sabnzbd for news servers. Evrrything can be automated using Sickbeard.

Cool! I didn't know there were any torrent apps for openelec. Gonna check it out. Thanks.

BTW do you know if sickbeard pirate bay edition works on openelec?

Been using XBMC for many years now. I've got a very old HP Pentium 4 running Openelec 2.0.0 with a 5450. I used to run Windows 7 with XMBC but then the main HD in the PC failed, hence me moving over to OpenElec (running on a 4GB flash drive). It manages all my downloads (SickBeard, SABNZBD, Transmission, CouchPotato, and Maraschino). I’m running XBMC on my Phone and Tablet (Both Android), works like a OK but I must admit I prefer MX Player (I use ES File Explorer to browse the shared content on my network).

I’ve pretty much given up on most streaming services through XBMC, my wife loves 1Channel, IceFilms and TedTalks but I prefer good quality movies, a decent 720p copy with proper sound only takes a few hours to download so I don’t mind waiting. Most of the sports streaming plugins are hit and miss. I’ve tried them all and a lot of the links are broken. Now I just walk over to my buddies place and watch all my sport in there in HD.

I must say that I have one serious issue with Yatse, XBMC and the YouTube plugin. If I choose to send to XBMC using Yatse, it opens, but then duplicates, and attempts to open again. It does this in an endless loop. Anyone else experienced this? I'd forgotten about it as I'd stopped using this option altogether, but I will pop the developer a message...

*snip*
...

Tried it the other day - and cant say it was working 100% either (had to actually open the youtube app on the XBMC, view a video manually, before yatse actually started to work.

Will wait and see if Gotham makes it perform better:)

also an Ex-openelec - moved to pc. Openelec didn't provide the correct direct 3d drivers, thus visuals while playing music was rather old/crap.

will consider openelec only on low power devices like a PI
