Xbox 2333 setup help

Ok, think I am starting to get the picture :)

Ok so essentially I will have to swap the RC's around depending on if I want to play PC or Xbox....The xbox doesnt have headphone jack does it?

Swapping is going annoy you. No headphone jack either. See, your speaker system was created with only being used with 1 source in mind. In this case your PC. Your screen does not have build in speakers which just makes it worse.

How are you currently getting sound from your xbox?

Yeah it will annoy me especially considering my sub is sitting right underneath my desk. lol.

Currently I have it hooked up to my TV, but seriously not enjoying the picture quality. :(

Well, you've got to do SOMETHING about it! Having it hooked up to a normal CRT, you might just as well see if you can get the 360 swapped for a MegaDrive...

Ahh this makes more sense now.

Let me think quickly....

Tell me quickly...how does the speaker get connected to your PC. Does it use one of those earphone connector cables or does it use earphone to rca cable.

You are right dude, I am ready to sell the thing cause the quality is just so K@k. :(

Yeah it uses 3 x earphone connectors that plug into the sound card, a green, black and a orange.

But then the actual speakers just plugged into the X530 sub woofer using RCA cables.

Noooooooooooo... don't do that. Speaking from experience, having the 360 on HD for the first time is like getting a new console for free. It's worth the effort, promise.

Cool thanks enigma, I am going to take your word for it. ;)

Tell me about the 3 earphone connector cable...what's on the other side that plugs into the subwoofer.

Not in front of it, but I think those 3 earphone jacks run to the main speaker that you use to switch the speakers on and off and volume. That main speaker plugs into the sub I think using a VGA style connector. All the other satellite speakers then plug into the sub with a RCA plug. Hope that makes some sense.

Hmm...I need to find out what connectors is on the other side of the cable is. I'll check the manual quickly, hang on.

Seems like the 3 x 3.5 earphone cable is mounted on one of the speakers itself. This is a problem since my plan was to use splitters to connect the xbox and pc simultaneously.

I'll try and think of something else.

From 'Specifications' section on Logitech website:
"Xbox®, Xbox 360™ (with game console adapter, not included)" ??

EDIT

A quick look on eBay found this: Logitech Console Adapter for 5.1 Speakers

It seems you'll need some proprietary do-hicky to convert from L/R RCA to the three inputs of the Logitechs. Sucks a bit, though - you'll lose 5.1 :(

Yeah but even with that it will only be connected to the Xbox and not the PC. The wanted solution would be to have both connected at the same time.

Fair enough, although I suppose you could split the three individual feeds to the Logitechs... Not exactly elegant. Sony receiver FTW! :p

O well, if it cant be done right now thats ok, i will just swop the cables out when I play pc or xbox, I would rather have a decent picture.

Thats Dark, appreciate the info.

Ok so I am now understanding this a bit better. With regard to plugging into the PC, I know my PC has a optical audio input, however I dont think my logitech x530 does. Can I not plug into from the xbox cable into the PC and play the sound through the speakers that way?

Like I said before, yes you can. I previously only had one optical input on my sound system and wanted to use both a media pc and the xbox on it. So I had my optical cable go from the xbox to the optical input on the pc, then from the optical output on the pc to the sound system. Only think you need to change is the passthrough setting in windows when you want to use the xbox. Works perfectly and then you don't have to switch cables the whole time.
