The PS3 will sell(especialy in japan), theres no doubt about it; but from what I can see its only as good as a 360 and that does not justify its huge pricetag.

As much as I like to rag Sony, I expect they'll still do reasonably well. 360 isn't selling well in Japan due to lack of content.

I believe we're going to see an even split at the end of this round of the war. MS will own the US. Sony will rule Japan. Sony will possibly lead Europe, but not by much, it could go either way.

Then there's Nintendo, Who may, or may not trounce the big boys, but either way, will take bit bites out of the market.

I think Nintendo is very much aiming at being a complimentary console to one of the big two.

They are not trying to compete on any of the major specs of Sony or M$.

I don't think Sony will tank but if M$ sell the same as Sony then they would have done better than they ever imagined. I think the PS3 will just shave this round and M$ will be over the moon about that. But next round they will be clobbered unless they seriously fix their attitude.

I know that if I needed to buy a console for my kid who was say 8 years old and I walked into HiFi corp and had to choose. The R2000 difference would be the reason I went for the 360.

Especially when they are just as good as each other.

The xbox also has family protection built in, does anyone know if the PS3 has that?

Basically I can set it to only play games and DVD's rated 13 or younger and then if the kid gets hold of a mature game it just won't play without my password. Fantastic idea for parents.

As far as I know all 3 support ratings tech now.

I guess all we can do now is wait and see, I'm just sick of waiting :p

This however looks interesting: http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/multimedia/display/20060730010154.html
I never thought they'd be idle during PS3 launch . ..

I suspect - remove Core and drop Premium to $299 - add the HD-DVD and Wi-Fi attachment into the Premium and keep it's current price or bump it up to $500 to compete with the baby PS3.

hmm, you guys said that in the 80's and they nearly destroyed your auto industry so tread lightly ;)

Japanese developers have a sense of making the profound and nutty work that the west just seems to lack. They make a lot of very different, very interesting games. (some trash as well, but that's par for the course)

I'm not a fan of over done violence. If my 2 year would get upset watching it, then it's overboard. Western developers have a tendency to revel in gore, which I don't like.

Gross generalizations on my part, if you can prove me wrong please do, the more "lesser" violent games the better.
